Injuries / Returns

Post by murphy15 »

Can I request a list of injuries / expected or rough return dates that stays near the top of the forum? Bearing in mind that this is us, and we consistently have an enormous list of absentees, I find it difficult to keep track... :smt017 Rizzo? Is this a possibility?

RB I hope you are wrong on some of those dates, it was particularly dissapointing news about Ed Slater. What went wrong there? Surely he was xrayed after occurring the injury and he could have gone under the knife in July which would have meant a return November/December time. What happened there Julie was something missed and if so how can we make sure that this doesn't happen again.

Cockers said that hopefully Slater will be back this time next year so March is way too early.

Can anyone fill in the gaps? It's so frustrating; I feel like we will never fulfill our potential as a squad because we always have so many injuries. :smt013

I had an ACL reconstruction in October, and start back playing this week. Potentially could have been sooner, but I decided to wait till the start of tho this season rather than squeeze in a handful of meaningless games at the end of last season. Now I'm into my 30's and without the core starting fitness of Slater, let alone the level of rehab and S&C care he'll receive.
For a more meaningful guide, look at Croft last season, had his knee op around about this time of year too.
Moving forward, we have Parling, Kitchener, Deacon, de Chaves, Brad Thorn and Tom Price, hardly limited are we. Sure I saw somewhere, Cockers had already suggested they were looking at an injury dispensation, but making sure they got the right calibre of player. I wonder of they'll actually be looking at specialist back row instead, given Matera's injury, or maybe a like for like lock/6 given Mafi's departure.

The Merc reckons Parling, Croft and Allen all available for this weekends trip to Exeter.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Over the years I have learned to take the promulgated fitness of our players with a massive pinch of salt. That said this would be excellent news if it proves to be the case :smt023

Pearce has been training I believe.

Another athelete to look at in terms of ACl injuries is Adrian Peterson the US Running Back he did both his ACL & MCL and was back playing in 8 months (he nearly broke the single rushing yards in that season 9 yards shy).

I heard end of September for our Mr Pearce, but we will not be rushing him, useall statement from Tigers that we have had over the last couple of years!
I would really like to hear from a Physio at some point as to why we get all these injuries nowadays, is it the sheer physicalaty of the game now or is the grounds, training ? Whatever it is we never seem to have less than half a team out at any one time.
