That goes some way further to explain the Brad Thorn 'coincidence' :smt012

Suddenly Brad Thorn makes more sense, perhaps injury dispensation

Still room for another signing in the budget if assume.
Slater injury dispensation and Mafi off the wage budget, room to move.
Thorn in, maybe one more, possibly a Freddie Tuilagi sourced project..?

I don't think we can afford to sign the luxury of a project to replace a quality player like Ed. RC said on RL post match that the club is looking but it has to be the right person and he does not want to bring someone in to early and the end up not playing so he is not in a hurry :smt017 I fear that the second row could be a repeat of the problems we had at centre last season. Shocking when we had such riches in depth.

At least it is a position of strength for us.

Could be a big year for Kitch. Could he leapfrog Ed into England contention? He has the ability.

Normally yes but at this juncture it is not a case in point is that we did not have any second row cover on the bench today. Lean pickings :smt010

If it wasn't happening to us this would be comical. We still have Kitch, Parling, De Chaves and Thorn when he's fit so we should be alright I suppose. It's so frustrating though. Last year we had a really strong squad and were decimated by injurys which ruined our season. You have to hope that we are getting all our injuries out of the way for this year. If we get our squad fit then I think we are favourites for the league and could contend for Europe, although on the evidence of recent years that is a big if.

I presume we chose not to have second row cover on the bench as Harry Wells was ft enough to play for Bedford on Friday.

With Cockers not rushing about I'd presume Price and Parling are due back soon whilst Thorn should be ready by the end of the month. That'll keep us going with Deacon still to return.

Awful luck for Ed.

Martin Crowson has said on Twitter that if all goes to plan he will be back by the end of September. Did say that if the rehab on his knee doesn't work it could be longer. He said that only an hour ago so I have to hope that he knows more than Slates himself. I live in hope. :smt003
