Tigers v Newcastle - Starting 15?

Post by baz1664 »

15 Matt Tait
14 Blaine Scully
13 Manusamoa Tuilagi
12 Anthony Allen
11 Vereniki Goneva
10 Owen Williams
9 Ben Youngs (c)
1 Fraser Balmain
2 Tom Youngs
3 Logovi'i Mulipola
4 Geoff Parling
5 Graham Kitchener
6 Tom Croft
7 Julian Salvi
8 Robert Barbieri

Once Loamanu, Slater, Thorn, Cole, Matera, Benjamin, Camacho are fit and the return of Ayerza the options will be endless.

I think Williams will be available, but I would be surprised if he is in the starting line up after no game time, but you never know. I also think Niall Morris will start at 15 with Matt Tait likely to be on the bench.

After the past two weekends I expect it'll be Burns at 10. I think that was a safe bet unless he'd had a complete howler with OW's suspension.

Have to agree with Baz that looks a very promissing lineout, the difficuilt choice for me would be between Jaimie Gibson & Tom Croft, and I think Croft's Line ouit work just edges it for me although Gibson would be a shoe in on the bench along with Jordan Crane. Otherwise that could be the team to play the Falcons as long as they don't play like the Wazzocks who turned up at the Cardiff Match.

I can't see Burns not starting. Also think Morris will feature in the starting lineup. Either starting at 15 with Tait on the bench or, if Tait is good to go, then on the wing in place of Scully.

I can't see Williams starting over Burns having had no game time. I think Ghiraldini will start at hooker after his performance against Cardiff, TY also hasn't played at all yet this preseason so 20 minutes off the bench is probably the best option for him. Morris has probably been a star of the pre season and Tait has only had 20 minutes against Cardiff so for me Morris has to start. I'd go for

1. Logo
2. Ghiraldini
3. Balmain
4. Kitch
5. Parling
6. Croft
7. Salvi
8. Barbieri
9. Youngs
10. Burns
11. Goneva
12. Allen
13. Manu
14. Scully
15. Morris

16. Youngs
17. Bristow
18. Pasquali
19. De Chaves
20. Crane
21. Mele
22. Williams
23. Smith

Shrugging a little for props and second rows but we will manage.

Looks a good team but I would prefer to see Tait on the bench instead of Smith. I would actually consider starting Tait at 15 with Morris on the wing and Scully sitting on the bench.

No Morris deserves to start at 15 imo with Scully.

Tait on the bench will do me just fine.

I like the backs kpj, but I would like to see more impact from the bench. I think Crane will start, with either of Croft or Barbieri on the bench, joined by hopefully, Tom Youngs and Bai.

Me too! However, I think that Loamanu (and Williams) might need a run out with the A team first.

Due to the posponement of the Doncaeter game Owen is suspended for the Newcastle match.

He shouldn't be. Bans are given in weeks not games. Only active weeks apply for the ban so with three weeks to run the cancellation of the Doncaster game and the late Notts friendly should mean he's good to go. Apart from his lack of match fitness.
