Find this one hard to believe - lock is one of our strongest areas and Louis Deacon already provides the old head.

Out with the new and in with the old.
I wonder how much of this was down to Cockers' inability to reconcile with Steve. :smt017

Eh? Cockerill has previously voiced his frustration that Mafi couldn't be with Tigers but this was not frustration with Mafi, himself. Cockerill consistently said family must come first. It appears that Mafi has come to the conclusion that it is better for him and his family that he plays in Australia. I'm not surprised and wish them the best of luck. I am surprised that this could, in any way, be considered Cockerill's fault!

First of all Steve Mafi was not a lock so Thorn would not be a replacement for Steve. Secondly yet a another dig at Cockers even before the season starts. Where is your evidence that it was Cockers inability to reconcile anything. By all accounts Cockers and Tigers have been very supportive of Steve. :smt018
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

I've seen it reported that Steve is trying to get into the Australian team, he's not going to do that in Leicester. Good luck to him and his family and thanks.

Cockers has been supportive of Steve voiceing that family comes first.

He even said in the merc not to long ago that he hopes steve repays the favour in his contract.

Would rather have a fit focused thorn instead of a player like Mafi who's heart is at home, Steves a quality player and will do well in Oz, thorn could be a real coup, not getting any younger but wants one big last season. This should allow Matera more game time in the back row when he returns for tigers, Matera could be a great!!

I thin you'll find that refers to April this year to end of SH season. i.e. old news.
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Is it the same injury as the one in April, as reported here?

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union ... zqu5r.html

Not sure how long someone can be out of the game with an injury like that, but he might still be able to play for Tigers this season?

Here is the link to the comments of RC re both Brad Thorn and Steve Mafi. As usual RC is playing things down until they are finalised but it would be nice if it happens.
