2014 - 2015 fixtures now out!!

Post by L Smith »

Next season's fixtures are announced next Friday. What I would give to start off with Saints at Welford Road so we can get 5 points from The Champions and snuff out all this nonsense about 'the tide is turning'!

Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

No.....lets do it proper boys. Away at Franklins Gardens is the way...a five point win at their gaff would break them.

No let's start off simply,London Welsh at Welford Road would do me,followed by
an away trip to Newcastle and a home fixture against Gloucester and away at
London Irish, End of September 20 points, good start.

Looking forward to the Glaws away fixture - trouble is can't remember much the next morning. Also the Falcons at WR, looking forward to seeing Alex T again. IMO the first and last games of a season should be local derbies where possible - a good intensity to begin and end the season. Overall, I am really looking forward to this season, I believe the top 6 will be hotly contested, no letup and the need to rotate players consistently to keep up the pressure.

Saints first game at home would be a terrible fixture IMHO.

Let the top sides build a bit of momentum before the big clashes in October/Nov I say. We know we won't get the 4 London clubs but I'd be amazed the fixture computer gave us Saints home or away. Exeter away would be a nice little outing while the weather is good...

I forgot to say in earlier post…. when do wee get to know when we play Toulon at home? That is the game I'm most looking forward to this season… then Ulster (who always bring brilliant support).

Our recent Tigers v Saints games at WR have had a really nervy atmosphere in the ground...

Tbf as much as I would love to smash Saints first up it is not the fixture we want. I think the mid table sides away are the fixtures we want when the weather is good and we have a full squad. Newcastle away first up would be a potential five pointer whereas playing them in the middle of February would be horrid with players missing and a bog of a pitch. Bonus points have become so important these days and two out if the first four games away against the lower sides would be the time to play them along with the back of the season.

Smithy what I'm suggesting is we get these fixtures out of the way first and that we play Saints,Harlequins & Saracens during the November internationals period because I believe our 2nd string players are now stronger than those at those clubs. That plus a couple of cup matches in that period would suit me fine.

Fair comment, Noddy, but what I am saying is that we should fear no-one, and let them worry about us! Personally, I would rather see us play the other contenders while we're all at full strength.

Are they being broadcast anywhere? On TV or online?
