David Jones
Very much a Tiger through and through and regarded as the saviour of Next/Cotton Traders I think that it is so sad to see him in court.

Re: David Jones
Yes, very involved with Tigers and helped the club in all sorts of ways.
Has done all this despite having Parkinsons disease.
I am sad because he was a good supporter of the club, the reason I imagine behind the Next sponsorship and so on.

Re: David Jones
David Jones was Chief Executive then Chairman at Next and was instrumental in their sponsorship of the Tigers. Then moved on to become Chairman of JJB and I had read of internal governance issues there, but I hadn't realised it had got as far as court proceedings. Very surprised, having worked at Next HO during his time there I always found him to be an honest and very approachable man. Very sad.
Re: David Jones
Just read some of the coverage of his trial. Is it really in the public interest to put a man in his 70's who is seriously ill with Parkinson's on trial, but not to put Maria Miller in court for stealing £45800? World gone mad.

Re: David Jones
Yes, it is certainly within the public interest. That Miller is not having to defend herself in court is disgraceful but that does not mean this trial is any less worthy.
Someone's health should not bar them for having to defend themselves in court for what could ultimately be an atrocious level of fraudulent behaviour, particularly as the UK economy vests so much in the shareholder model.
He might be old, he might be ill, but he also might be guilty. A trial will get to the truth either way.

If you believe that, you know nothing about the English legal system.A trial will get to the truth either way.
A life long Tiger

Shame he wasn't a member of parliament - it would have been "instant dismissal" - of all charges that is

That's funny, I'd have thought seven years of legal education and training and four years of lecturing in constitutional law would give me a pretty good understanding of the English legal system.Smudge wrote:If you believe that, you know nothing about the English legal system.A trial will get to the truth either way.
The CPS clearly believe there is enough evidence to achieve a conviction. It remains to be seen whether the jury are convinced by this, or by the defence offered. Tell me, what have I misunderstood?
Re: David Jones
That bit of the legal system is functioning pretty well. It's the bits either side that are in disarray.Smudge wrote:If you believe that, you know nothing about the English legal system.A trial will get to the truth either way.
I am neither clever enough to understand nor stupid enough to play this game
