Workman like, but not very inspiring, poor scrum and only the defence was anything like good.

I thought the scrum totally outperformed expectations to be honest.

I was expecting England to be destroyed but it was fairly even throughout

Plenty of heart, little cutting edge besides a few individual moments of excellence. Pretty much a staple phrase for the Lancaster era for me. The team should really be doing better in attack when they have that good a platform.

Well done to Wiggy for his work with the pack. I was very worried about us missing Cole and even more so after the first scrum. However it held up well after that.

With Corbs and Cole to come back in the front row, along with Manu in the backs the future does look brighter than it might have a few months ago with Barritt and Ashton out of the equation!

I thought it was an unbeleivable atmosphire inside HQ today. From where i was sitting I got a true indication of how fast the play was and how quickly things change.

It was a titanic battle and could have gone either way.

The new guard (England) stood up today and laid down a marker that they will not go backwards. Very reminiscent of England before the 2003 world cup.

IMHO England are really building something finally.

Cracking game and no one left anything on the pitch.

Brilliant game and a brilliant victory. Congratulations to Lancaster and his coaching staff, and Robshaw an his squad.

An exceptionally young England team showing great maturity against a massively experienced Irish team in top form. Scrum struggled valiantly, but the line out, the breakdown, and defensive line speed were outstanding from England.

Launchbury, Brown and Robshaw the stand outs for me, but overall a superb squad effort.

Joubert refereed the game very well.

Crash balls were clearly the game plan. He put in some great hits too.

Agreed Smudge. He is much heavier than Barritt, taller than Barritt, and he can kick. So as long as he doesn't become liability in defense, he will get selected ahead of Barritt.

If Burgess proves himself at 12, then the same reasons will be brought to selection. And the same reason they would rather play Manu at 12 than 13.
