Re: Tigers v London Irish
even so, I fear the worst for this game!
Irish have found some form, gained confidence and now with two good wins under their belt. They were unlucky to go home without any points against us a few months back, and had their fair share of chances to win that game. If we dont step up at the weekend , it could be a comfortable win for the irish!

Tigers to win by 8
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.
Re: Tigers v London Irish
I really hope so. I think if we do not win comfortably now and against Newcastle, we will have poor form going into some tough games that will decide who will be in the top four.Smurphswillgetya wrote:Tigers to win by 8

Agree still got to play Exeter, Saints, Sarries and Quins so we really must win the next two matchesJohndudey wrote:I really hope so. Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity

Thinking of going down on Sunday in the hope of seeing a fresh start. Will wait until Friday to see the team and weather before deciding!

Re: Tigers v London Irish
We surely can't be as bad again, but there is a good chance we will be.
I'd play the following to provide some fresh air & a kick up the backside of some!
Ayerza, Hawkins, Mulipola,
Deacon, Slater,
Mafi, Salvi, Matera,
Mele, Williams,
Thompstone, Flood, Goneva, Scully,
Tait.
Reps: Stanko, Thacker, Balmain, Gibson, Waldrom, Harrison, Allen, Smith.
It would be nice to see a big change but I doubt it will happen, also the coaches should stop playing injured players, Kitch didn't look fit from the start last week & if it hadn't been for he selection of Mafi & Hamilton away at Bath, we would:
A)Have won the game, B) Got better momentum into the season, C) Had the pair of them available to play sooner!

To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Tigers v London Irish
One of our big problems is that we have had to chop and change the team all season so we haven't had the chance for the team to build up any continuity. Now we have the opportunity we need to stick with the same team as much as possible IMO and let them find their game. I would only make forced changes for this week.
Re: Tigers v London Irish
Whilst I think we should consider a few changes I am not a fan of shuffle the decks.. I do think we need some consistency, the amount of changing partnerships in the centers this year has been a real pain and no wonder we struggle a bit there.
I would Start Mele though and I would like to see Mafi given a go for that extra carrying pace in the BR.
I do Like Goneva at 13 and Scully on the wing though.
Any news on Kitch?

Re: Tigers v London Irish
With one exception I would field the same team as last week, I feel that Steve
Mafi should be given game time whether this is from the start or off the bench
perhaps my vote for player of the month Jamie Gibson should be given a rest. After all we can't play as bad as we did last week, can we?

Re: Tigers v London Irish
Wasn't there a rumour that Manu would be back for this game?
Re: Tigers v London Irish
I thought Cockers said after Worcester he was hoping for Newcastle. Which is a coincidence as it was the only fixture he played this year against them at home I think.
Re: Tigers v London Irish
I'd go for:
Ayerza, Hawkins, Logo
Slater, Kitchener (Deacon if Kitch is injured)
Mafi, Gibson, Salvi
Mele, Williams
Allen, Goneva
Thompstone, Tait, Scully
Briggs/ Thacker, Stankovich, Balmain, Deacon/ Crane, Matera, Youngs, Flood, Smith
Consistency in selection is one thing, but after last week changes must be made. Consistency from picking the likes of Allen, Tait, Thompstone and, hopefully, Kitchener will help. Scully has earnt a start IMO while having Thompstone and Goneva in the side presents more of a threat than one of them with Smith. Matt is also a better bench option. Crane and Waldrom are both out of form, Gibson's performances have been one of the highlights of the season and I think he could succeed at 8 which would allow Mafi to play at 6. Mele and Williams cannot be worse than Youngs and Flood.
I think Tigers will win by 2-6 points with a similarly dour performance, but I expect a very similar side to the one that played vs. Gloucester to be selected, including Youngs, Flood and Crane.

Saw on the unoffy this interesting thought
1) ayerza
2) Hawkins
3) Logo
4) Deacon
5) Kitchener
6) Matera
7) Salvi
8) Slater
with Thacker, Boris, Balmain, Mafi, Gibson on the bench.
Would be a physical team and should boss the breakdown, then have the pace of Mafi and Gibson coming of the bench.
or as someone said and more likely to happen.

With Thacker, Boris, Balmain, Deacon, Matera on the bench.
But reckon either Crane or Waldrom will start.
