Tom Youngs would be my preference but it is a bit more complicated appointing a front row player captain these days as they rarely see out the full 80. Parling could be a choice but I would prefer to leave him with calling the line outs.

I would probably go for someone like Croft. Senior player, would have respect of all players and is Tigers through and through. I would try and keep the captain in the forwards if possible as I think it is easier for them to keep a feel for the pulse of the game.

I would go with Parling, from the behind the scenes Lions DVD it is clear he gets the respect of the players. They were players who he had been with for about a month and in a situation where he was not one of the senior players so I imagine the respect for him in the Tigers dressing room is massive. If it was a worry about him doing the captaincy and the line outs then the line out responsibility could be given to Kitchner.

I would go with Croft as captain and Parling as pack leader/line out specialist.

I like Croft but his poor fitness over the last 3 seasons rules him out for me. AA or Salvi for me...

Croft may take longer to get fully fit than he imagines and I doubt he will be back this season. It's then a big ask to expect him to captain the side, regain his form and fight for an England place.
Not saying he wouldn't be a good captain but is it fair on him?

I would go for Crofty as captain next season if Toby leaves. Chris Robshaw is on
record saying that crofty is one player whose advice he seeks in match situations, and that's a good a recommendation as any.

Errr.. Martin Johnson was away but he was still Tigers captain.

I think Cockers should strip Floody of his captaincy and give it to Slater and drop Floody and give the 10 shirt to Williams so both Slater and William develop in their roles for next season.
