Saracens game - advice

Post by MrPartridge »

Off to watch Tigers take on Saracens this weekend. Never been before - if anyone can advise on good places to eat/drink pre-and post-match then I would be most grateful.

I'd be surprised if any of us have been to Allianz Park yet.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

I'll be surprised too, yet still grateful, as I also have tickets, for what is a new venue for many if not all of us. Sometimes surprises are a good thing BJ, and in this case if you dont ask you wont get! I do believe this interweb thingey can be quite useful for sharing of data and even information on occasion. Go on BJ, 'chill' and see if anything good happens. It just might!

What are you talking about? Since Leicester hasn't played at Saracens' new ground yet, I merely said I'd be surprised if any of us on here would have been there. Would it not be more logical to use 'this interweb thingy' to contact supporters of clubs who have already visited Allianz Park?

I have been. It's more or less in a field in the middle of nowhere (well, there are some houses nearby). I think I might have spotted a pub, but I can't be sure. Even near Mill Hill East station it's very quiet.

So sorry I can't be of more help. My advice would be don't assume there will be a load of pubs and stuff near the ground (such as at Tigers) so if you see a good place on your journey make the most of it!

I'm sure some people know of hidden gems in the area, however.

BJ that's sooo funny :smt038 :smt038 :smt038 but I guess you wont understand why!

What's wrong with asking 'friends' on your 'home' forum, especially as some other clubs dont/no longer have one? I for one have been to other clubs in the Premiership, even when Tigers arent playing. I'm sure others have done so too. Its not a sin to be a rugby fan as well as a Tigers fan.

And we already have at least one helpful response...

Thanks BG01 - I really appreciate the advice.

What is it about this forum?… no matter what you post it always seems to lead to bickering of one sort or another.

I wasn't attempting to be funny.

I've just looked at the area on Google Maps and I see exactly what you mean.

I know what you mean. Some folk will always read something into a comment that isn't there.

If people don't know because we haven't played there yet, then they can hardly share information.

I have done a quick google search and the saracens website has this information

"LOCAL FACILITIES:

If you are looking for nourishment and sustenance you will most definitely be better off using the comprehensive facilities available at the stadium itself.

Saracens will be providing a number of attractive food and drink outlets including award winning organic pies and burgers from the Laverstoke Park Organic Farm, Real Ales including one selected after a special beer tasting session, by supporters which will be known as Saracens Ale. Also available will be proper cider, for cider drinking connoisseurs and a specialist Juice Bar for those on a health kick.

For those who wish to avail themselves of local facilities, the following local directories may be of assistance:

Rizzo; equally, if they have been there, they can.

Mr P; I dont think its bickering, I think its a question of having different ways of thinking. For me its a matter of whether you want sometimes to use the forum as a way to share or explore possibilities, or shut them down, or heaven forfend, use it as a chance to be, well, 'clever'.

And no BJ I dont suppose you were trying to be funny, but my points stand and both your responses kinda prove it.

I am also going to the game with a group of mates (some tigers some neutrals) and plan to have a drink in the Adam and Eve which is about a 5 min walk from Mill Hill East station. You are right the ground is in the middle of nowhere, and from the Adam and Eve its a good 25 min walk to the ground (according to Google maps!), or you can jump on the bus which takes you close to the ground - jump on the 221 at Engel Park junction with the Ridgeway and get off at Copthall sports ground.

Thanks for all the helpful info from the friendly ones and thanks for the comical grumpiness from BJ.
I will be there for the first time, I am really looking forward to it and seeing the new ground. I think the location may be far from ideal, but it is hard to find anywhere in London and Sarries should be applauded. I am going to watch the Tag rugby festival beforehand, all good stuff.
