Liking people helps in a team environment, buying into the approach and being willing to go for it doesn't require anything more than sublimated self-aggrandisement.
Personally I think conflict is essential conducted in a mature manner.

On a historical note, Charlton and Best didn't much care for each other back in the day! I remember Charlton giving Best an awful pass against Leicester (about 1967), Best controlling it and beating 3 defenders then crossing; he then gave Charlton a half-wave, half V sign. Charlton was not impressed.

Half a V sign must be a finger salute. I am surprised he was not given a 9 match ban for bringing the game into disrepute
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.
