Rugby on TV with BT?

Post by MelChannerFan »

I am considering leaving Virgin to go with BT Infinity/TV to get Premiership matches.
Does anyone have experience of the service?

I've had infinity for a couple of years or so.

After initial problems with a half wit of an engineer who claimed I'd got a line fault when he came to install it - which resulted in lot of time spent on the phone to call centres in India, who quite rightly checked out the line and found it fine.
After being told it would be another 3 weeks before they could try and install it again, I found the email of the head honcho for the Infinity roll out, who had a different engineer out the next day and a big discount on my line rental for the next year.

Been fine since. (Other than when someone put a digger through a cable near the Narborough exchange and took out half the phones in the area)

I heard a rumour that Bt and Virgin are tying up so you can get BT sport on cable, might be worth waiting a week or two just in case.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Thanks for replies.

Virgin told me that they are trying to negotiate with BT. BT deny it.

I will wait until August, but I don't want to miss the beginning of the season!

Me and the Mrs have just got the BT Infinity package. Had it for a few weeks now and I much prefer it to Virgin which I subscribed to at my old house. You can get the BT Sport package for £12 a month on Virgin, not sure about Sky though.

Bit slow there BJ! Have you been sunning yourself? :smt003
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

Mea Culpa - I have committed the unpardonable. I raised a subject that was last discussed in May - with 99 entries to wade through.

It is becoming quite urgent since the season starts in about 6 weeks.

I have ordered BT infinity plus their basic TV package for an extra £5 per month. For this they will send me a youview box to watch BT sport on TV, as well as usual PVR features.

Having ordered, but not had it installed yet, I have no experience of the service, but would point out that if you order before August you get a year of HD for free (normal cost £3p/m).

Had Infinity for about a year, and despite a hiccup when they said the clients equipment is at fault (solved by the installing engineers saying it didn't work on any of my computers and his BT computer) it has been well worth it.
Make sure you go for unlimited!!!

Thanks for those giving constructive suggestions/observations.

I'll probably give Virgin a few more weeks to get their act together before switching to BT.

Not bothered about HD - not impressed by it.

If it helps anyone, I had my broadband with O2 who were then bought out by Sky. Phoned up to say I wanted to cancel my broadband with them and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. For just the cost of my line rental, they will give me phone line, sky TV (the Entertainment + package) and broadband for a year. I can add BT sport for £12 a month.

I had O2 broadband for ~5 years and they didn't offer me anywhere close to that deal.
