Lions v Oz

Post by El Guapo »

Best of luck to all the lads selected for todays game squad. In particular the Tigers contingent, who I'm confident will do the club and the Lions proud.

TY has been superb in the line out. My favourite moment being when Barnes criticised TY for not throwing to the back, TY then proceeded to nail consecutive throws to the back. That shut Barnes up. Philips has been poor. He has repeatedly kicked straight to Barnes and if he does this to Beale we will be punished, I also don't think I have ever seen a scrum half get caught so much at the breakdown. Bring YBY on!

So so lucky...... they really didnt deserve it but there you go.. the luck of the draw.

Maybe the Ozzites wish they have Farrell.

Well the Lions won, but will need to play much better if they want to win the series.
Phillips was poor but all the backs other than Sexton and North looked out of sorts.

Not sure what was happening in the scrums at the end.

I now know why the Wallabies had never lost a match with this referee officiating before today. At one point, I had to bite my lip to prevent me from repeating what Dylan Hartley said to Wayne Barnes.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

It would help if they got a TMO who knew the laws.

Blimey that was very close, good job they could not convert their penalties, sadly i have to say our front row replacements nearly lost the game for us, will have to keep the original selections on longer, we are supposed to be dominant in scrum but lost that control in the last 20.

After that referee I'll never criticise Wayne Barnes again - since when did competing for the ball at the breakdown constitute an offence? We might just as well have had RL play-the-balls today.

We really should have won by a lot more given the field position, possession and chances we blew. They had just two chances and scored them both.

Thought Vunipola looked a bit out of his depth and Dan Cole has had better days. Phillips and Heaslip didn't play well. I'd like to see Faletau and BY starting.

North looked awesome, Sexton had some nice touches and I thought TY, Corbiserio and Wyn Jones played well.

Player ratings from the Indy:

I don't see farrell as an improvement on Sexton, and see no reason why YBY doesn't start.

Would agree with player ratings
2 worse players for lions were Warburton and Cuthbert-he might have scored a try but was complicate in both their first half tries and a dropped catch-
Refereeing was hopeless .for their first try we had 2 penalties coming they they won the ball by coming in at the side yet penalty to Australia and try still given.Cannot understand such poor refereeing at this level.
