Will we be smiling on Saturday come 5pm??

Post by WiggoTiger »

Will the gods smile on us this year?? Will I have to eat my hat/scarf/flag before boarding my coach home after RC / MOc have amazed me with high quality rugby at Twickenham for the first time in ages?

Hoping for a win as I am a Tigers fan who HATES losing!! RC get the lads well up for the fight so we can wave MOc off with a win!! :smt030

Wiggo, I don't really care how we play so long as we win..........if we win ugly I will take that. If we lose, which I do not expect, playing well I will also take that. Saints will have to bring their A game if they are going to win.

Jordan Crane says there are psychological barriers to get over for both teams in his Living Rugby blog.

Surely only a collapse in team confidence can stop Tigers now, but maybe that's what happened to Saints at Franklins Garden.

I will keep the faith, I will also be smiling because I am proud to be a Tigers fan win or lose, and proud that we're in yet another final.

But of course we will win, and I will be grinning :smt040

I agree with Tigerbeat - I don't care if we play awful rugby, as long as we have 1 more point than Saints at the end of the match. Losing isn't an option and I honestly believe that a loss on Saturday could have a hugely negative psychological impact on our wider staff, players and the club.

Beating Saints 7 times on the trot will count for nothing if we lose on Saturday. There must be no complacency and RC and the coaching staff can point the players to a few recent underdog wins to focus their minds: Wigan in the FA Cup, Athletico beating Real in the Copa and Toulon turning over Clermont. There are no certainties.

The slight worry for me is Saints will come out relaxed knowing they aren't expected to win. I think the first 20 minutes will be key and I think it is important that we don't give them anything early otherwise their belief will grow and their fans will get more involved.

I think we need some swagger on Saturday. A kind of collective Steve Redgrave, Michael Johnson, Michael Jordan, Ed Moses mentality of 'you can't live with us if we perform to our best'. In the back of their minds, they know that...

I don't know why but I really think Toby is key on Saturday and he needs a big game in big match IMHO. I have faith that we'll do it on Saturday, but we won't beat them 36-8 this time around.

Not wanting to brag or anything, but everytime I have been to a Tigers match, they have won (ask Smurfswillgetya). It has been close a couple of times but the boys have always done us proud.

My husband declares that every time he watches us in a final on TV, we lose. Hence he is to be banished to go and clean the conservatory until its all over.

I was in the crumblies stand when we beat you and broke your long run of home wins a few years ago.

(If my memory serves me you were somewhat put out about it.)

Having watched Toulon win having made 170 odd tackles & 25% possession, I'm a tad worried. There is a chasm in terms of class between the two sides, but finals are different. Saints wanted that semi-final more than Sarries. I'm thinking that Sarries were a little complacent and thought they just had to roll our their carpet pitch to win through. For me, we have too many threats all over the pitch not to take advantage of. Clermont wanted a 10 point + lead and could never get away. We need something similar going into the last 10 minutes.

To answer the original question - yes.

We are not at home to Mister Cockup on Saturday. Nuff said.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.
