This could have some quite severe repercussions and not just in Wales.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Thank god for that, I mean it was so unfair that the French could only spend about 10 times more than us before. :smt011

At today's prices it is double our cap !

At least they have fixed the French cap for the following two seasons.

A cap is meaningless when all they really do is take whatever the highest wage bill is, add an extra half a mill for safety and call that fiscal responsibility.

This is seriously bad news for us (and other AP and Welsh teams). Salary cap needs urgent review in my opinion otherwise the French teams will pick up all the best players. And that includes Tigers best talent if they offer enough money...

The problem is half the AP appears to have no European ambitions and will not vote for an increase in the cap.

IF the Heineken Cup continues can the ERC not step in, surely its in their interest to make the competition as exciting as possible. Don't fancy the Anglo-French cup anymore it may aswell be the french cup going into the later rounds!

I think it has become twice as ridiculous now they have removed the youth players from the cap as well.

Giving the french more room in the salary cap AND increasing the upper limit is too much, I agree.

But removing the youth players - as a stand alone idea to enable teams to get more out of the cap - is a good idea that we should also adopt, IMO.

We might see a lot more younger players remaining with us instead of being on the score sheets for Bedford and Donny like last night. Good to hear Ollie Dodge and Dante Mama getting some good game time. Maybe we would keep some of these type of lads instead of buying in backup cover if they were not included in the salary cap.

Only if there is an expanded A-team fixture list, I suspect it is better for the youngsters to get regular starts in a lower league rather than sitting in a gym.
