Always comes across as a decent bloke, but never quite makes the grade as DoR.

Or not:-

Well for now anyway, seems to be a matter of time
a club spokesman said: "It's just speculation at the moment.

From same article : "But managing director Charlie Little told BBC Hereford & Worcester they plan to issue a statement later in the day."

Only 1 reason for that - he's gone :smt039

To be fair, I think he's done well to keep them in the Prem this long - they are never going to challenge for a top 6 place and will struggle to do better than 11th next year, IMO (assuming Newcastle come up, then Irish are my favourites to go down with Worc a close 2nd).

Perhaps a new DoR is needed to see if that will change their fortunes, but I do not think it will....

I think they are hampered by lack of funding, that said they have some good players with the likes of Lemi, Clarke and Matavesi in the backs and Kvesic, Mullen and Euan Murray in the forwards (i know Kvesic and Mullen are going). If they had a larger budget to get some more talent in positions like 2,4,5,6 and 8 they could be very threatening

I have known Richard for years and a more decent and knowledgeable chap
you could't wish to meet.
He was a great player and good coach but has never had the funding to back his coaching ambitions
Having said that, look at the players he acquired for Worcester only for them to be lured away to richer clubs.
I often wondered what heights he could attain if he was somewhere like Leics where money is less of an issue.
We will probably never find out now.

There's speculation Martin Johnson has got the job!!

Ryan is a real quality coach who is as knowledgeable about the game as anyone you could name.
Unfortunately he will have the same problems that Richard had when it comes to funding.
When it comes to motivation of his players? I'm rally not sure.
However I wish him luck. Worcester are a decent club and deserve some success.

I wonder if this is why he didn't want to stay on with Scotland for longer, it was rumoured that Scott Johnson asked him to. I know he said it was because of his Sky commitments, but does seem a bit fishy!

Its a bit of a harsh sacking when they are about as high up the table as they have ever been !
