Future Stadium Development?
Is the ground's capacity still being increased to 30,000? If so when does the next phase of work begin? Does anyone have pictures of what Welford Road will eventually look like?

Very nice indeed. Any idea when it will be completed?

Any timescale put forward by members of the forum would be pure speculation. My belief is nobody knows the real answer but, if you desperate to know, you could always try contacting the club direct.StaffordTiger wrote:Very nice indeed. Any idea when it will be completed?
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

As is everything else on an internet forum. If we didn't speculate about things it'd be a damn boring place.BJ. wrote:Any timescale put forward by members of the forum would be pure speculation. Is there still a terracing in the new plans?

StaffordTiger isn't asking for speculation - he/she is asking for facts.biffer wrote:As is everything else on an internet forum. If we didn't speculate about things it'd be a damn boring place.
I could say the rest of the ground will be developed after the end of this season or I could say it won't happen for another five years. I've honestly no idea when it will commence so there's no point in me putting forward a timescale for the job.
As I've said before, if you want to know something for definite, ask the people who know and not those who only have an opinion on the matter.

We don't know for sure but the next step is believed to be the multi store car park for 2 reasons 1 earliers money all week 2) Helps with match day parking issues

One of the forum regulars is a member of the Fans Forum and might have more information, sorry can't remember who it is off the top of my head.
My understanding was that the hotel and car park would be the next on the agenda, but with economics being as they are at present, I wouldn't like to speculate about timescales.
I did find this article from April 2012 though.

Re: Future Stadium Development?
I think the answer is "when we can afford it!".
As for terracing, I believe the plan (happy to be corrected) is for the lower tiers of the whole ground, bar the CAT stand, to be a terrace.

Re: Future Stadium Development?
That is what is in the plans, but we will have to see what is built
Re: Future Stadium Development?
I would suggest that it is unlikely to go ahead soon.
No prospect of world cup rugby so no longer a rush to upgrade for that.
We rarely sell out these days so extra capacity may be counterproductive. Many who buy season tickets but can't get to all the games do so to make sure they get a ticket. If there is more capacity then the benefits of a season ticket are less so some will just buy tickets for the games they want, knowing they are unlikely to miss out, even for the bigger games.
So why spend a lot of money to create another 6000 seats that aren't needed?
The existing facilities in the new stand are probably enough to meed the corporate demand and commercial ventures.

Re: Future Stadium Development?
Well the Crumbie must be a condemned shed fairly soon so some development there would be necessary.
Re: Future Stadium Development?
It has to be rebuilt soon we all pay for our season tickets & therefore should all enjoy the same standard of facilities!!

Re: Future Stadium Development?
I know the old Next stand was past its sell by date but since the new Cat stand was built Welford Road has lost its character, we used to be packed in like sardines and the noise was amazing, there's none of that now, if the Crumbie goes it just won't be the same.

Will 30 000 people want to watch a team that has little prospect of winning in Europe and that plays Prem semi-finals away from home?
