Toulon travel ALL THREADS MERGED HERE.

Post by johnthegriff »

The Away Supporters Club having investigated doing the journey to Toulon
by coach which would have meant leaving Friday night travelling through the night arriving in Toulon at about 7.00pm and returning on Monday leaving at 8.00am and arriving back in Leicester at about 6.00am Tuesday have decided to go by train instead.
We will leave from Welford Road at 2.30am Saturday a coac will take us to St Pancras in time for the 6.18am Eurostar to Paris arriving 9.53am.
We then catch the 10.49am TGV to Toulon arriving there at 2.40pm.
Our return journey will be from Toulon at 1.20pm (afternoon) arriving back at St Pancras at 8.41, we will be met by a coach and be in Leicester before midnight.
At this stage we have not confirmed our hotel but we do not expect the total cost including two nights B/B to exceed £240.00
Phone me on 0116 2101056 or come to our table in the Captains Bar after a first team match

Hope the match is in Toulon. Has it been confirmed?
I could agree with you...but then we'd both be wrong.

Day Trip To Toulon By Air

Post by mark3lions »

I am currently pricing a day trip to Toulon by air leaving Birmingham or East Midlands on the day of the game approx 8am and returning back to the UK, departing Toulon approx 10pm.
If the game is moved to another venue (i.e Marseille or Montpellier) I will look to arrange the flight to that venue.
The trip will be ATOL protected and I will know more of a price per head in the middle of the week.
The trip will be based on filling the plane to keep costs to an absolute minimum.
For more details or to register your interest mail me at [email protected] or follow me on twitter 'ontheballtravel'
This is not a corporate trip and I do not provide tickets, I just provide travel to genuine fans wishing to get to the game and back.
I have personally spent 10 years travelling to sports events in Europe and I have decided to provide trips myself as I just want to provide a good service that is reasonably priced and aimed at genuine supporters like myself.

Cheers

Best of luck, Mark. It certainly sounds better than catching a coac (whatever one of those is) at 02.30 in Leicester.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Ease up BJ. I think we can guess that chartering a plane for a day trip to the south of France may work out a good chunk more expensive than John the Griff's trip. I have recently checked out RyanAir flights to Toulon from Stansted and there are no return flights until the Wednesday after the match! John the Griff's trip is looking very attractive. I did the London Irish trip with the Tigers Travel Club just before Christmas and what a great day it was! The regulars are a great bunch and very friendly. My son & I had a great time.

I was merely expressing an opinion about the two options. The idea of getting to Welford Road for 02.30 on a Saturday morning does not appeal to me. I'd rather catch an early morning train to St Pancras and a slightly later Eurostar, thus having a decent night's sleep as opposed to dozing on a coach on the M1. For example, the Saturday 07.25 from Leicester would get me into Toulon at 18.40 and the Monday 09.21 from Toulon would get me back to Leicester at 18.36. Admittedly, this would cost more as I'm sure the rail fare between Leicester and St Pancras exceeds the price of a return coach trip.

But hey, I'm not making the arrangments.

I booked return flights to Marseille yesterday for £110 each!

£22 return on the train to Toulon if that is where the match ends up being played.
If winning isn't everything, why do they bother keeping score?

Going out of Heathrow to Marseilles British Airways 7:20 am Friday (ouch!!) there is a more civilised flight around midday.

Returning Monday 5:05PM

Working on the principle can get to Toulon, Nimes or Avgnon from Marseilles by train.

Those are decent prices. I am fortunate that I live in France so it is just a train for me down there.

We have recently secured 120 seats at favourable group rates on various British Airways services from Heathrow direct into Marseilles. Outbound travel takes place on Saturday 6 April and returns on Monday 8 April.

We are fully IATA licenced and ATOL bonded and are one of the UK's leading groups specialists covering the sporting, conference, incentive and meetings marketplaces.

Toulon have published an update on their website concerning the location of the 1/4 Final on 7th April - translated roughly as follows:

ERC informed Toulon yesterday (Tuesday, January 29th) by post that the request to play the quarter of final of H Cup Toulon / Leicester on Sunday, April 7th (17 h 30) in stadium Mayol is refused due to capacity being less than 15.000 places (Cap.14,700). The Mayor of Toulon, M.Hubert Falco, therefore introduced a new file with a re-drawn stadium Mayol with a capacity of 15,020. On February 4th ERC examine the new application. On February 7th, the commission of security of the city of Toulon will meet to validate the changes to the stadium. On February 8th, ERC will ratify or reject. If rejected, Toulon will request to play the match at either Costières de Nîmes or in the Park of Sports of Avignon.

So in other words, if it ain't Toulon, its either Avignon or Nimes - not Marseille.

just to throw in my tuppennyworth

I was working on the match being played at 5:30 pm at Toulon on 7th April

Eurostar from st Pancras to Paris return £69:99
flight from Paris to Toulon return 112.28 euros (£86) dep Paris 13:10 on 7th arrive 14:30 in Toulon (need a hotel / BB for the night or sleep at airport !)
depart Toulon 12:20 on 8th April arrive Paris at 13:25 then catch eurostar back to st Pancras
ALTERNATIVELY
Eurostar from st Pancras to Paris then TGV from Paris to Toulon £189 (7 hour journey) departing 2pm London 6th april then departing 8th april from Toulon
accomodation required for 6th and 7th April

But now of course all the plans will change refer to the mayor of Toulon increasing the capacity of the ground so awaiting outcome .

How is it that the Stoop can hold a quarter final but Toulon cant? They are both below 15000?!
