According to the rugby paper a couple of weeks back we are in talks over Gonzalo Camacho from Exeter (although apparently Racing Metro are in talks with him too) and that we have also expressed interest in Aussie born USA international Luke Hume http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Hume and some footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN2cjO_CI3E

Some talk of John Barclay joining us as the backup for Salvi, seems to be out of favour with Scotland at the moment, but usefull.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.

Would be an excellent signing, having two proper 7s next season is crucial!! Someone with 41 caps for Scotland would probably push Salvi for the shirt too.tigerburnie wrote:Some talk of John Barclay joining us as the backup for Salvi, seems to be out of favour with Scotland at the moment, but usefull.
EDIT: At least we can hope he's coming, rumour seems pretty unfounded ATM.

Talk on the unoffy, not heard of a source for the rumour.

Re: Squad Changes 2013-2014 Season & Transfer Rumours Thread
Bath announced they have signed Argentina tighthead Juan Pablo Orlandi, meaning alongside Dave Wilson and Anthony Perenise, they will already have 3 specialist tightheads, plus the promising Kane Palma-Newport. Does this throw their rumoured chase of Brookes into serious doubt, especially when added to the likely departure of Castro, will Brookes be more likely to stay?
I know we have Cole, plus Balmain and rumoured to be looking at Fabio Staibano. I think we need at least 3 solid options for each side of the scrum, plus maybe one extra cover player. Ayerza, Mulipola, Stanko LH, Cole, Balmain, Brookes, Staibano TH.
Personally I'd rather see us look at the bigger picture and add a young promising LH than Staibano, as Boris is 33, Ayerza 30 and Mulipola 25, but Cole at 25 is our oldest tighthead, Brookes and Balmain both 22 I believe. Mulipola can play both sides, as allegedly can Brookes, though I've not seen that so much as Mulipola. That said, if we keep our current six props and replace Castro, I suppose Staibano is like for like positionally. Henry Thomas from Sale would be another option to look at if they go down.
If as rumoured, we lose Castro, Chuter, Andrew, Young, Ford, Hamilton and Murphy, the replacements I'd like to see from those rumoured/linked/confirmed would be Staibano, hooker from in house (Stevens), de Chaves, Mele, Lamb, Miller. Don't think we need to replace Hamilton with Benjamin still to return. Maybe add in another couple of back row with Thorpe, Deacon and Jooste all coming out of contract, and Newby and Woods still not properly replaced. A natural 7 like Poff plus a utility like Gibson. Looking at some of those leaving wage wise, that looks doable incoming.
Promote a few from within like Symonds, Forsyth and Lewington for depth in the backs.

Heard from a Glasgow Warriors fan that Barclay is currently expected to sign for Tigers when his contract is up this summer - would be excellent news if true, if Gibson and he both join then Tigers would have some excellent strength in depth in the backrow.

With Miller now signed on at sale we are now down to the unlikely signing of Leigh Halfpenny or the inexperienced Luke Hume as a replacement for Geordan and Scotty, im starting to get a tad worried about fullback for next season

Why are you worried about fullback. We have Tait and Morris who can play there. I would say we need another winger as Goneva and Benjamin have picked up injuries and if that happens again next season to two wingers we would be short in that department.kpj tiger wrote:With Miller now signed on at sale we are now down to the unlikely signing of Leigh Halfpenny or the inexperienced Luke Hume as a replacement for Geordan and Scotty, im starting to get a tad worried about fullback for next season
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.
