Re: Tigers v Worcester
Hopefully we won't be complaining about the ref, JP being much improved these days.
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

Re: Tigers v Worcester
JP is much improved and one of the better refs in the league.
From a Tigers perspective surely the big question is whether Cockers rests players or the entire side for the HC. Personally I think a side of
Logo, Hawkins, Castro
Slater, Kitchener
Mafi, Waldrom, Thorpe/ B.Deacon
Harrison, Flood (needs the match practice)
Bowden, Smith
Thompstone, Tait, Morris
would be good enough to win and would allow some of the more senior guys a bit of a rest, players like Manu and YBY could be on the bench in case things don't go well but I'd give them all the weekend off. Ospreys play Aironi on Friday and I'm fairly confident very few of their first team will feature in that game.
But with Cockers being Cockers I'd expect him to send the strongest available side, especially as there is a 9 day turnaround- although we may see some rotation at prop!! Therefore I predict a side of:
Logo, Youngs, Castro
Deacon, Parling
Mafi, Crane/ Waldrom (whoever Cockers intends to start vs. Ospreys), Salvi
Youngs, Flood
Allen, Manu
Thompstone, Tait/ Murphy (same as Waldrom/ Crane), Morris
Clearly winning this game puts Tigers in a good position but I think the "weakened" side is still very strong and would beat Worcester. If Cockers does send the strongest side then he can't complain about fatigued players as this weekend is a perfect chance for rotation.
Tigers should get the win but I imagine it will be fairly close, probably 5-15 points, a TBP would be great, especially with Quins at home to Welsh.
Hopefully Croft will be back and can get some time from the bench, if he and TTTE return then Tigers will have, I think, a fully fit pack to choose from. But now I've said that someone is bound to get injured!!

Stankovic is back in the mix for selection so would expect to see him as part of the squad.

Re: Tigers v Worcester
Part of the problem is how often have the "first team" been able to play together?
Injuries and international call ups mean that the backs in particular have not had as many games together as one might want.

Re: Tigers v Worcester
We will send a strong team to Worcester. My side would be something like this
1. Logo
2. Youngs
3. Castro
4. Deacon
5. Kitchner (Parling is crucial to our line out and needs to be fit for the HC)
6. Mafi (needs game time)
7. Thorpe, if fit (Salvi is another player in the pack that is going to be needed if we want to progress in the HC so keep him fit)
8. Crane
9. Harrison (needs game time and it means Youngs is not risked)
10. Flood (again needs the game time)
11. Thompstone
12. Bowden (Allen is essential for the HC)
13. Smith (needs game time)
14. Morris
15. Tait
That is a strong team that would be a match for most prem sides and it means some of our key players get rested.

Re: Tigers v Worcester
TYs had taken quite a battering around his eyes in the game, would not be surprised to see him rested, TTTE was on crutches after Treviso game, could not put his foot to the ground, looked like he could be out for at least another game.
Re: Tigers v Worcester
I'd want to see Ed Slater in the mix and Morris & Thompstone as the wingers.
Omnia dicta fortiora si dicta Latina
Re: Tigers v Worcester
In his post-match interview Cockers (if you believe him when it comes to injuries) said TTTE would have been fit for the Glaws match but wasn't selected as the side only trained once last week, so presumably he is fit for this week. Tait is also meant to be fit.LE18 wrote: TTTE was on crutches after Treviso game, could not put his foot to the ground, looked like he could be out for at least another game.

Re: Tigers v Worcester
I think those who have been out of action for a variety of reasons will benefit from some game time at Wuss.Croft,Castro(if he's back) Tait should figure and Floody too, if fit.
We clearly will need all our squad from now till the end of the 6 nations so now is as good a time as any to both checkout fitness but also get ready for the Heineken. We should put out a strong squad as we need the points and the momentum going forward into a very difficult part of the season. We need to respect the Warriors, but we have a strong squad who can get the spoils.
COME ON YOU TIGERRrrrssss

Castro was on in the 2nd half on sat.
Re: Tigers v Worcester
I would go for a team of
15.Tait
14.Morris
13.Smith
12.Allen
11.Thompstone
10.Flood
9.Harrison
1.Logo
2.Chuter
2.Cole
4.Slater
5.Kitchener
6.Mafi
7.Thorpe
8.Waldrom
16.Youngs (Tom)
17.Ayerza
18.Castro
19.Deacon
20.Croft
21.Youngs
22.Ford
23.Manu
If things aren't going well then you can bring on a bench of international level players. Difficult decision for Cockers on whether he plays Waldrom in place of Crane. Crane has definitely improved in recent weeks but Waldrom needs game time. If he does pick Waldrom over Crane then is Crane even in the 23? After all Croft needs game time aswell. I think Geordan also deserves a break and Tait deserves a chance to show why he should be in the 23. Should be aiming to empty the bench on 60 mins to make sure all the guys get some much needed game time before the trip to the valleys.

Re: Tigers v Worcester
Dont expect this game to be easy for tigers...it may even be a loss as wuss are no pushovers...
the future is bright
the future is Scarlet Green and White

Re: Tigers v Worcester
I agree 5 LBP in their 7 losses suggests that with a little luck they could be further up the table.Richard wrote:Dont expect this game to be easy for tigers...it may even be a loss as wuss are no pushovers...
Re: Tigers v Worcester
We should of course not ignore the fact that Worcester are top of their Amlin Challenge Cup and they may have one eye on their final two games where they stand an excellent chance to get into the knockout stages.
