Post by kpb »

Seriously,realistically after 3 rounds?

My head says Clermont.

(obviously my heart hopes otherwise!)

No Tigers! I am in an unusually positive mood its all plain sailing when we have all our international players to choose from, furthermore we will have Croft and Benjamin back early in the new year :smt001

If we can take 5 points next week and Toulose fail to gain a bonus point then i think we could have a good chance. Although at this stage I would go for Clermont or Toulon.

It certainly won't be Tigers. It's going to be a French team or Leinster will be there or thereabouts.

The bookies are usually there or there abouts and Ladbrookes have it thus:

Clermont 4/1
Ulster 4/1
Toulon 9/2
Toulouse 5/1
Leinster 6/1
Quins 8/1
Saracens 14/1
Munster 20/1
Leicester 20/1
Montpellier 125/1
Castre 125/1
Biarittz 150/1
Saints 200/1
Always a Tiger

Good news is at least we are not the least favourite premiership team as Saints have beaten us to it :smt003

Ulster look excellent this year and they have a better away record than the French clubs, plus they're playing for the Spence family so if Tigers can't make it I hope the Ulstermen do.

Agreed. If we can top Toulouse then we should be able to reach the semis, I say this because I think we are capable of beating anyone at Welford Road. From the semis on-wards its a one off game, if Stains could do it 2 years ago why not us? Perfect scenario would be to beat Leinster and go equal with them on 3 titles and silence those critics who think they are the best team ever. They seem to be forgetting us 10 years ago.

Although I agree with you TigerLad that at WR we can beat anyone, but having watched Toulouse against Ospreys on Saturday, I think they showed in the 2nd half they have what is required to go the distance.

Of course I want us to win it, but in the real world I think we are a little off the pace to really get there... but in the knock out stages... who know's.

Odds on French. Not Welsh, Scots or Italians. English Irish outsude bet.

I really like ulster at the moment. They seem to have something special going on there, and if they get a home quarter they won't have to leave Ireland.

It has to be Ulster for me. They are a great unit, with the team being greater than the sum of individuals.
However, don't write us off yet! At times we looked very good and are certainly improving overall. We just lack consistancy.

Interesting that these odds suggest Tigers are the 9th best team in Europe and the 3rd best in the AP. Seem about right to me and indicate that Tigers are no longer viewed as a top team in Europe or the AP.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

Given the players we have, we are potentially better than that position suggests - we seem bedevilled by indifference and poor tactics however.
