Today proved it
That there is no reason why LCFC and Tigers cannot play at home on the same day, so long as 1 plays at lunch and the other in the evening.
After all the moaning and groaning over the clash next weekend, today both sides played at home on the same day both live on TV to boot, and contrary to the SAG (mainly the police) assertions, I have heard of no major issues with traffic or anything else resulting from it, so can the authorities now stop insisting the world will end if this ever happens again...

I definitely prefer them to a 17.00 k/o or later.kpbates wrote:Wouldn't be happy with to (sic) many lunchtime kick offs!
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Just alternate who does what and it should be a fairly even splitBJ. wrote:I definitely prefer them to a 17.00 k/o or later.kpbates wrote:Wouldn't be happy with to (sic) many lunchtime kick offs!

Understandable considering how far you travel.BJ. wrote:I definitely prefer them to a 17.00 k/o or later.
I personally see no problem with Tigers kicking off at 2.15pm and City kicking at 3.00pm,still avoiding any 'clash'.These times can also be alternated.
POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE.
Re: Today proved it
Could there be a problem with shortage of stewards, hence a health and safety problem, I heard an announcement at end of match yday calling the Leicester city stewards to assemble somewhere, sounds as though they double up, hence cannot cover 2 matches unless the k/os are hours apart.
Re: Today proved it
With Tigers increasing the ground capacity there are more stewards required and there are some stewards that do Tigers and City matches

I assume you don't drive to Welford Road.kpbates wrote:I personally see no problem with Tigers kicking off at 2.15pm and City kicking at 3.00pm, still avoiding any 'clash'.

Re: Today proved it
One of the reason I gave up my ST was due to KO times. If the times were 12.00 to 15.00 on a Sat then I would probably renew my ST.kpbates wrote:Wouldn't be happy with to many lunchtime kick offs!

I prefer Saturday between 12 and 3pm. I hate Sunday KO's as it messes up a family day!!

Re: Today proved it
The reason is simple, if both grounds were full to capacity it would result in over 50,000 people exiting a small area at the same time.
Traffic measures would need to be put in place which is no longer the responsibility of the Police (Thanks Mr Cameron) and the council simply wouldn't cope.
Increased traffic would no doubt result in an increase of RTCs which would draw on Police Resources assuming of course that they could get through the traffic to deal. Let's not forget the whole of Leicestershire Constabulary is around the 2000 mark working shifts, therefore this would impact on their normal day to day duties.
This would lead to chaos on both the roads and rail network owing to the fact that there would be insufficient parking, let's not forget normal city business, shoppers etc Despite what people think there are a lot of people out there that don't go to Kissball or Rugby.
Policing would be a nightmare, Football matched are catagorised dependant on the risk element of the crowd. Do you really want to be caught in the middle of a PSU of Police Officers trying to control an angry mob?
Sadly certain risk groups get escorted from the Train Station to the ground, this usually involves a rolling road block along Tigers way therefore anyone coming that way would get caught up in it.
Pavements would be overcrowded resulting in pedestrians walking in the road affecting both traffic flow and increasing the risk of RTCs
The list goes on.....
All in all it is the best and safest decision to keep the two seperate, I'm sure the minor inconvienience of a late kickoff outweighs a 2hr traffic jam.

Re: Today proved it
I can actually make most days/times given sufficient notice. However, by sufficient notice I mean 6 weeks to 2 months for a change of day, as I have a family who expect me to do things they want on occasion - unreasonable I know but there you are!
I particularly dislike Friday night KOs as the traffic is always far worse for these than any other games!
Preferences for Saturdays aside, I am much more concerned with times than days. Last saturday was perfect as it was all played in daylight. What I really hate is during the winter hanging around during the (relatively) warm well lit part of the day and the game starting just as the light goes and the temperature plummets. Also there is, of course, the Tigers habit of playing badly under lights.

Re: Today proved it
If matches are staggered times like saturday, this rolling road block from the station is after the Tigers fans have left/arrived at the ground. There were plenty of coppers milling around on Saturday doing :censored: all. About 6 bikes just circling WR for what reason??
Feel its a cop out from the council.....its worked before it can work now. Lets face it LCFC only got 20000 for a 'local derby' so all this talk of 50000 people being around all at once is a load of cobblers.
Lets face it when there is RTC on the M1 the town centre and surrounding roads are more messed up more than a few sporting fans traffic!!

It would be interesting to know what the SAG agenda is.
Cause maximum dissatisfaction with maximum cost?
