One defeat too far by Tonga with the inevitable result.
Hambo :- He was with England when he was injured, but he was a Tigers player, our player. He is still our player.”

Wonder if Backy will put his name forward, or will it be a clean sweep and start again?
Not sure it's all Robbo's doing, but he seems to have taken a step he considers to be the right one for the team, well done for that.
They will need someone to inspire them and get their chins off the floor pretty quick.

I tried to love him, but the memories of his Bath years were too strong.

Who's next?

The action of an honourable man, and the right thing to do.

Any thoughts on a sensible replacement? I would hope that a new manager would be allowed to select their own coaches.

Good luck for the future AR, a first class forwards coach (but perhaps a step too far as an international manager?).

Pity we cant just let them have Slancaster Randrew and a brace of Farrells..
What a :censored: relief that would be....
We could throw in Barritt and Robshaw for good luck as well.

Bad news for Scotland.Just when things couldn't get much worse!

Unless they get a top International coach, someone like Mallet or Henry(highly unlikely)then I can't see Scotland improving.

One of the bookies favorites is Scott Johnson.
POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE.

I met Robinson and Woodward at Neath all those years ago on a wet friday night. I couldn't bear to ask for his autograph although I did get SCW's. His face was such a scowl.

A good coach but not a great one - I still remember his inability to get England, when they still had a large part of the RWC team, to perform.

My only surprise is that he lasted as long as he did - people are looking for someone to blame and he's the obvious culprit: in fact Scotland have been unlucky to have had a mediocre group to choose from for some years and I can't see that changing soon with their set-up which does its best to kill public interest in the sport in Scotland. My sympathy goes to the few real class players they've had who can't do it all on their own.

At international level a good number two behind an astute leader like SCW.
Didn't quite cut it at the top job for England and the reality is that he'd have needed to have been a magician to do much more with Scotland. The Tonga defeat has to be blamed on the players to a great extent, it was a step too far for an honourable man and he fell on his sword.

Apparently Scott Johnson being touted for the job - seemed more at home with the galacticos in Wales, but a decent enough chap. Scotland's fate, like Wales' was determined by the horse they chose: dump the Reivers, operate franchises in football towns, play in the Rabo.
Or they can have SL and we'll have someone better :smt023

I think SL ... but not Stuart Lancaster but Sean Lineen -

He did a reasonable job with Glasgow and I would say his current talent spotting job could be dispensed with for a while

maybe bring Townsend back or if they want to get a bit of fire and brimstone back into the mentality (which I think they need .. a bit of old fashioned scottish "Do or Die")- they perhaps need to bring Peter Wright into the changing room from his junior duties.

problem is we go round and round like this every few years and to me Robbo was as good as any and better than most - it is not the coaches fault - it is lack of playing resources not helped by only 2 pro teams and once you a below the top 15 or so you are on very slim pickings

Robinson to replace Cockers :smt003
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

Some of Cockers facial expressions are priceless, but I just could not stand the continuous scowl that inhabits Robinsons features, thanks very much :smt043

I'll be really annoyed if they get somebody decent like Wayne Smith who could have taken the England job. Lineen is the obvious choice as he coaches two thirds of the team already.
