Or 7
Don't think we have squad numbers, just the position you are playing.
Hope this helps. :smt001

Agreed. Rugby doesn't do squad numbers.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Could you post the link to the item you bought so we can clarify the point?

Tigers do use squad numbers on their training kit. They are the small white numbers at the bottom on their training shirts.

I don't think the squad numbers stayed contstant for each player throughout their Tigers career though so it would be difficult to be certain that a particular number was Backy's unless you could also identify the season it was from.

With a number that high it sounds like it would most likely be a piece of kit from his time as defence coach as player squad numbers were much lower than that.

The higher numbers like 60something are/were normally for coaches.

Academy squad numbers are similar but prefixed by the letter "A".

That threw me a little, I dont remember Neil Back being an H or No.8. I thought he was always a 7 or in the olden days a G.

I'm sure someone out there will enlighten me.

Tigers used to have the no.7 wearing H & the no.8 wearing G as the letters went across the back row in positional, not numerical order.

ie F-G-H for 6-8-7.

Hence why Backy used to wear H, not G.

This was repeated vs Maori when Julian Salvi 9at 7) wore H while Jordan Crane (at 8) wore G.

Yeah - I once got a top from Matt Hampson's Ebay that was "as worn by Geordan Murphy" - the number on it was 25 I think. I have another with 23 on it, but not sure who's that was....

Dave, Once again, thank you for your input. It is a shirt from neils days as defence coach.
