Wasps vs Tigers

Post by TTRITH »

Despite us not winning at Adams park since 2007 I'm fairly optimistic with our chances. The form of certain players coming into this game is promising and with the likes of Deacon and Murphy to come back into the squad I think we'll do quite well. The team I'd like to see is

15. Geordan Murphy (c)
14. Mat Tait
13. Matt Smith
12. Daniel Bowden
11. Niall Morris
10. George Ford
9. Sam Harrison
1. Boris Stankovich
2. Rob Hawkins
3. Fraiser Balmain
4. Louis Deacon
5. Graham Kitchener
6. Brett Deacon
7. Julian Salvi
8. Jordan Crane

16. George Chuter
17. Jonny Harris
18. Keiron Brookes
19. Ed Slater
20. Richard Thorpe
21. Micky Young
22. Matt Cornwall
23. Adam Thompstone
Richard Burnett

Good looking squad, would Anthony Allen not be in there somewhere,I expect him to be released by England.

Agree with that side other than I would start Slater at 6. Hopefully Murphy is fit, Tait has to play IMO. Also feeling confident for a win, an lbp would be ok but disappointing. Keep winning and wait for the others to slip up! Tigers by 5+ IMO.

What has happened to "Long Time". I know he picked up an injury several weeks back but is there any news in his return. Obviously this will never be published on the tigers website and I understand why until it is set in stone but we are missing his scrummaging.

I would go with
1. Boris Stankovich
2. Rob Hawkins
3. Fraiser Balmain
4. Louis Deacon
5. Graham Kitchener
6. Ed Slater
7. Julian Salvi
8. Jordan Crane
9. Micky Young
10. George Ford
11. Nial Morris
12. Dan Bowden
13. Matt Smith
14. Adam Thompestone
15. Mat Tait

16. George Chuter
17. Jonny Harris
18. Keiron Brookes
19. Rob Andrew/Joe Cain
20. Richard Thorpe
21. Sam Harrison
22. Matt Cornwell
23. Andy Forsyth/Alex Lewington

I think our back 3 needs to be the quickest we have as we saw how Wade punished us last time round

Waldrom and Allen released by England, both straight into the Tigers side IMO.

A good chance to see Waldrom and Crane in the backrow with a proper seven. Slater on the bench rather than at 6 now IMO, even though he has been playing well!!!

I'd go for a team of

15.Murphy (C)
14.Morris
13.Smith
12.Allen
11.Thompstone
10.Ford
9.Young (Really agile scrum half, Wasps lack 7s so more space for Young perhaps at the breakdown)
1.Stankovich
2.Hawkins
3.Balmain
4.Deacon
5.Kitchener
6.Waldrom
7.Salvi
8.Crane (Crane at 8 because he has better ball control at scrum time)

16.Chuter
17.Harris
18.Brookes
19.Slater
20.B.Deacon
21.Harrison
22.Bowden
23.Tait

Solid looking team with good players off the bench.

With TTTE back he should play No.8 and Salvi at 7. Doubt it will happen but on recent form for Slater to lose his place while Crane keeps his would be outrageous!

From a Tigers perspective it's great to see Haskell replace Waldrom in the England squad.

Definately a good looking squad...although should Tait be dropped for Murphy? Think Murphy would be a good replacement with say 15/20 mins to go to either see the match out or to spark some life in to get the win.
