Any changes for Saturday

Post by Chobbsy »

With Ashton free to play, JJ likely to be back in the squad do you think Stuart will make any changes or go with the "stick with a winning team"?

Id personnally make one chance to starting line up and that would be to start with Ben Youngs, not because he plays for Tigers but i feel Care never plays as well for England as he does Quins. He had a poor (may be a tad strong but he wasn't great) game on saturday against a poor team.

I'd put Ashton on the bench.

I think Ashton will come back in and Sharples will get switched to the left wing. Personally I would swap Care and Youngs as I don't think Care played that well and the relationship between Youngs and Flood could be key - Youngs also has a good record against Oz.

Having said that I think Ashton coming in will be the only change to the starting 15. You might see players like JJ added to the bench as we didn't have many impact subs available to us last week.

I think there will be a couple of changes, my team would be;
1. Marler
2. Youngs
3. Cole
4. Launchbury (massively impressed by him)
5. Parling
6. Johnson
7. Robshaw
8. Waldrom
9. Youngs
10. Flood
11. Ashton
12. Barrit
13. Tuilagi
14. Sharples
15. Goode

16. Vunipola
17. Paice
18. Palmer
19. Wood
20. Care
21. Farrell
22. Joseph
23. Brown

If I were picking the team:

1. Marler
2. Youngs
3. Cole
4. Launchbury
5. Parling
6. Johnson
7. Robshaw
8. Waldrom
9. Youngs
10. Flood
11. Ashton
12. Tuilagi
13. Joseph
14. Sharples
15. Goode

I think power worked well against Fiji but we need a bit more pace in the backs to unlock Australia and capitalise on a hopefully dominant pack.

You seem to be missing a Prop on the bench and have in affect one too many backs

My apologies you are correct, the problem lies in your selection of 23 players, where as in internationals it is still only a squad of 22 so you need to drop a back.

I could have sworn I saw both Vunipola and Wilson get on the field on Saturday and also someone wearing the 23 shirt. We guessed this was due to it being an Autumn international and not a 'competition' match

I believe they are trialing 23 man teams in internationals now, this is where my mistake arose as the team from last week was listed as a 22 not 23 with David Wilson so i will swap out Brown for Wilson

It does make you laugh. The IRB couldn't make a decision if their lives depended on it. Most competitions have been playing 23-man squads for nearly 3 years and they 'trial' it having failed to ratify it over the last 3 years. Pathetic, ponderous, dithering and clueless. They make the management of the BBC look progressive and decisive!

Now i know this is not going to gain much traction here but Waldrom was not at the races over the weekend , its got to be time for Morgan ! Surely he is the future in a back row of Woods and Croft (capt) sooner rather than later , well IMHO as soon as Croft gets back from injury . If we are going to challenge the big boys south of the equator you need a dynamic back row Waldrom is not going to give you that . To continue that thought Youngs jr needs to come back at SH and JJ into the centres , Finally Mr Lawes needs to come back with Palmer returning to his club ( launchbury on the bench) . Cheers do your worst lads !!

My changes would be;

Ashton for Mogne.
Youngs for Care
Launchbury for Palmer
Wood for Johnson

I thought Wood looked excellent when he appeared on Saturday and we know he is a class act whereas Johnson is a very good player but not in Wood's league IMHO and Wood gives another dimension in the line out.

Palmer was quiet on Saturday.

I think Manu/Joseph is the future but would stick with Barritt for this match, he had a good game v Fiji.
