It doesn't sound as though anything has improved. Very sad that this is still the case some 3 (or 4? ) years after the Cat stand opened. A long time ago I formed the opinion that most of the bar staff were very young, very inexperienced at any form of job, let alone bar work. Also relevant is the old saying that if you pay pea nuts you may get monkeys.
Tiger Dad must be a very patient bloke since he seems to devote a great deal of time and energy to what is probably a futile cause.
There must surely be some more mature members of the local population who would be able to turn up on matchdays and give the bars some competance and stability.
One thing - please dont prepour real ale!

Hi Jack - Unfortunately gone are the days when passionate volunteers and players were able to serve the beer. We live in a very different, commercial world where were far more demanding and impatient.

The reason I got involved was to try and help reduce the queuing time at half time. Since then, and despite a few complaints, and it is actually only a few, we have made considerable improvements.

I totally agree with not pre-pouring cast ale. Anyone that does this should be shot on site. And I'm not sure why there aren't more older people on Lindleys books. I guess they would rather be watching the game...

Please keep posting your comments, as the move constructive feedback we get, the more pressure we can put on Tigers and Lindleys to fix it. I'm sure we'll get there in the end... :smt002

Good to establish contact TD.
The people I was thinking of worked the larger bar under the A&L stand when I first held a ST about 6 or 7 yrs ago. They seemed efficient, capable and after a few visits they knew what you drank.
I am sure they were not volunteers!
All the best.

The new text service for feedback and match day queries will be good! I can see it being bombarded with "sort the service out" texts! Maybe Matthew Nicholson should look after the phone that the texts are received on???????
If winning isn't everything, why do they bother keeping score?

Indeed NL - I just hope people that experience poor service levels will use the new text facility, as the club will only react if they get enough genuine feedback.

Pleased to report, albeit I entered Captains Bar a little early (1420) I was served immediately. I did have to explain what cask ale was but the service was splendid!

Quick service again in the Mark Bar. Seems that if that bar is available to the general public then the ABC works fine.
