Unless things have changed a lot since I lived in the city with my then (ex) fiancee, who was at one of the colleges, town & gown inhabit separate worlds.

In my experience, few students venture beyond the city centre. I'd be very surprised to see many supporting LW.

As a regular at Welford Rd (season ticket until work changed my shift pattern)I drive about two and a half hours each way to watch a game, I can walk to the Kassam a lot faster and have a few beers for a change. Access to the ground should be ok on a Sunday and there is quite a bit of parking although I'm not sure if it can handle a capacity crowd. As for local support for Welsh, I doubt unless they do well, Wasps had a good local support when winning things but not now and the bulk of the true rugby followers seem to favour Irish. Still, I wish Welsh great success and many years in the Premiership, even if it is only so I can have those few beers. See and hear you all on September 2nd.

Me too (with the exception of Pedigree). Sadly, I'll be driving. :smt009

AS the Boss is not drinking these days I'm hoping the driving may well be delegated :smt001

Town and gown still inhabit separate worlds. However, there will be plenty off rugby supporters (and players) within the student body.

Further local news. A predicted sell-out for the first game and some fixture problems

A route for those who dislike motorways; it is the one I travel to each home game.

From Leicester B4455 Fosse way to Halford then A44 south to Oxford/ ring road. On a Saturday the Fosse way is a lovely, usually fairly empty, road. From Witney it is an hour and a half so about the same to Oxford. Allow 2 to get to the Kassam

That's the same route more or less that we use from Carterton. As you say reasonably quiet on the Fosse Way. Oxford ring road on a Sunday should be ok but can be a pig for even the most minor of incidents on the A43 or A34

The only problem with the car park is getting out! You'd best go to the Priory after the game for a pint and wait for the traffic to clear.

Thanks for the post Priory

Are you available to do the catering at Welford Road?

Thanks for the heads up, we're stopping at the Holiday Inn Express on the Sunday night so look forward to spending the evening in your establishment!
If winning isn't everything, why do they bother keeping score?

Interesting observation here about ground sharing and primacy:

“The uniqueness in this situation is neither of the clubs own the ground.”

Just as an aside:

I have seen many shirts in West Oxfordshire - you know what that means if you live there - if you don't, be quiet.

For those that do - where would you pick for a meet/pint? Brize? I put this as a centre - ish point.

Brize would be good. I saw another one of those shirts in Marriotts Walk yesterday.
