Re: Youth Development
Good little article.
He speaks of some not quite making the Tigers grade moving on to other professional clubs but I hope there is support for those who give several years of their youth but unfortunately turn out to be not quite up to making a living at the game.
Also, no mention of Billy Twelvetrees who came through he system.

I am neither clever enough to understand nor stupid enough to play this game

The same Billy Twelvetrees who got dumped by the academy system. Moved on a free to Bedford. Played well so Leicester then signed him back?h's dad wrote:Also, no mention of Billy Twelvetrees who came through he system.

Oh. I'd assumed he went on a loan for game exposure. I understood Tigers had a relationship with Bedford the way they have with Nottingham.Mr Bean wrote:The same Billy Twelvetrees who got dumped by the academy system. Moved on a free to Bedford. Played well so Leicester then signed him back?
Although Cockers is quite honest in the piece that that may be the case with some of the current leavers!

Re: Youth Development
To be honest i thought Billy was dual registered while at Bedford, so wouldn't be classed as re-signed as he never left.
But i am happy to be told different.

Re: Youth Development
I think there was a clause in is contract at the time that said Tigers had first refusal on him out of the premiership clubs. And the England selectors at the time weren't interested in him either as he was never chosen to play any age grade rugby, so it wasn't as if Tigers were the only ones who didn't think he had made the grade by that stage of his development.
