Gatland to lead The Lions

Post by rocktop51 »

According to BBC Gatland offered the job of leading the Lions. Good choice - the only choice in my view. I just hope there is no Wales bias.

Hambo :- He was with England when he was injured, but he was a Tigers player, our player. He is still our player.”

Why Tigerbeat, it was more fun the way it was! :smt001
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

Being a bit traditional on these matters i find it sad that the appointment of a New Zealand head coach for the British and Irish Lions is accepted so readily. I felt the same with Graham Henry.

Probably the only viable alternative to the media-appointed saviour of England Rugby - Lancaster. :smt005

If Gatland wants to win, he won't have a Welsh bias.
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

Gatland is a fine choice for Lions Coach.

Next year's Lions Test team will have very little correlation with today's "best guess" teams.

He may be Wales' national coach but, being a hard-nosed Kiwi, he won't let sentimentality or national bias get in the way of selecting a winning side.

My 2p worth.

Precisely why I said to win, no Welsh bias. Gatland has points to prove in the SH and will select the hardest, meanest team possible. And as you said, this will bear little relation to media guesswork now.
