Why grade 'A' for Warriors??
I was looking forward to taking my wife and kids, including my daughters boyfriend to the Warriors game on the 30/3 but was very disappointed to find out that the club have graded this game a 'A' grade match.
No disrespect to Worcester but why on earth is this game, which may have already put people off being moved to a Friday night also be graded higher then the game against Glaws? I can understand the last match of the season vs Bath being graded higher but surely not for Wuss on a Friday night??

The Andy Goode effect maybe? He does have the most fascinating hairline in professional sports.

Possibly more to do with who they think Tigers will be able to field rather than who the opposition are?? When they priced the Gloucester game they may have been anticipating more absentees on the England front.kpbates wrote:I was looking forward to taking my wife and kids, including my daughters boyfriend to the Warriors game on the 30/3 but was very disappointed to find out that the club have graded this game a 'A' grade match.

Re: Why grade 'A' for Warriors??
I expect it has been designated as "A" grade as it is the only home game between 5th March & 20th April and will therefore be relatively popular due to the fact that fans will otherwise be deprived of their regular WR for nearly two months.
A & B designations are sometimes due to the likely strength of the opposition but are more often due to the expected popularity of the fixture.
Also, Worcester is relatively close & therefore likely to attract more travelling opposition fans than say Exeter or Newcastle.
For eample, even if Saints were bottom of the Premiership, the game against them would probably still be classed as "A" grade due to the local rivalry.

Every game in the same league should be of the samne standard.
Another silly idea with which to annoy supporters.

Indeed this is doubtless what the marketing department is focusing on.Isambard wrote:Every game in the same league should be of the samne standard.

Yes every game should be, but history shows that in practice it is not the case. Clubs including Tigers have propritised certain fixtures for many seasons now & supporters have grown wise to this so they too occasionally prioritise which fixtures they attend & don't attend. (LV Cup is a prime example).
The marketing bods have chosen, rather than keeping all prices at a constant level, to slightly raise the price of the more popular games & slightly reduce the price of the less popular ones to hopefully increase revenues.
As long as the marginal difference is minimal I don't see a problem with this strategy. The hardcore fans don't notice a difference, the people who only want to see the "best" games pay a slight premium to do so and those fans who want a slightly cheaper day out also get the opportunity to do so.
Rugby, and in fact sport in general, is hardly the first industry to adopt this model and it won't be the last either. Think of the A & B bands as akin to having Peak & Off-Peak matches! Worcester becomes "Peak" because of a lack of supply (one home game in nearly 2 months) and a potentially higher demand (opposition's geographical proximity).

I can see what you are saying and agree that games such as Saints,Sarries,Bath,Quins etc, are more popular which is why when we decided on purchasing 7 tickets we thought that the Match against Worcester would more then likely be graded 'B'.I know the game is a few weeks off but judging by the seating plan online there is still a hell of a lot of empty seats for the game, which if downgraded I believe the club would fill. But hey what do I know!!

Re: Why grade 'A' for Warriors??
The grading was set at the beginning of the season.
If they downgraded the game now, that would upset the many thousands of fanswho have already bought tickets for the game at A grade prices.
Were they to offer early purchasers a discount at the margin it would certainly cost the club more money than the revenue earned from additional ticket sales.
A & B designated games have been advertised as such from the beginning of the season so it shouldn't have come as a surprise to you now.
Also, I doubt that a reduction in ticket price now of (max) £6 would really shift a huge amount more tickets than if prices were left as they are.
Regardless of the opposition, I expect this game would have been A Grade anyway due simply to the lack of any other home fixtures areound it.

It is still nonsense in my humble opinion. Maybe there are too many people with not enough to do in marketing, the salaries of whom might go towards, suggestions please but my favourite would be ........

As a season ticket holder I'd never heard of 'A' and 'B' tickest before - I presumed I was paying the same price for every game!
