Cockerill's future

Re: Cockerill's future
Read this quote taken from the merc on line by Mickey Young:
Tigers changed tactics after struggling to break down the Italians in the first half.
"We changed things in the second half and got more success. It took us the first to understand what to do best because getting around them was a tough ask," said Young.
"We played with good intensity in the second half and went through them instead of trying to go around them.
"The wind played a big factor and it was tough against it in the first half. The second was easier on the legs and we could express ourselves a bit more.
and please answer the following:
1. Did none of the rugby brains on the field see that the strategy/tactics were not working?
2. Did none of the coaches see that the tactics were not working?
3. If some did, why was it necessary to wait for half time to change the tactics? Are the players not allowed to on their own? Or must they wait for a coaches' or DOR's approval?
The answer to the above would seriously affect my view of whether Cockerill should go or stay.

Yeah!!! Smash it all.... smash it all up!!!
That vase over there... smash it... that window SMASH!!!
Wreck the lot ... it's broke already so bust it all up up.
Yes... that's how recent results might make us feel (and cats around my house are really getting a kicking) but do we really believe in the cold light of day that getting rid of Cocky as DoR at this point in the season would solve more problems than it creates?
However, some additional / new input into the backs would be useful - they look dull, static, lacking in invention and devilment.
I think Matt O'Conner (who seems to operate well below the radar of most posters) has far more to answer for than Cocky, and doing something with the back line now wouldn't carry the same risks as wholesale changes to the coaching team at this point in the season.
Now where's that cat gone

Whilst I agree I think it unlikely Cockers would accept replacing O'Connor. So likely they both have to go.thebearisstilldeano wrote:I think Matt O'Conner (who seems to operate well below the radar of most posters) has far more to answer for than Cocky, and doing something with the back line now wouldn't carry the same risks as wholesale changes to the coaching team at this point in the season.

Why do you post such jibberish?? Is it funny? Educational? Interesting? Why?Bill W (2) wrote:

I could agree with you...but then we'd both be wrong.

Well it enlightened me in a moment of boredom, never heard of nor knew the meaning of this before, thanks BillPhil B wrote:Why do you post such jibberish?? Is it funny? Educational? Interesting? Why?Bill W (2) wrote:

Gibberish? What kind of an education have you not had? It is the proverbial writing on the wall!
One poster has had MOC on his radar for two years - me! Boring everyone again and again. My evidence needs no rehearsal but its genesis was his behaviour two seasons ago at Wuss (the match won essentially by Dupuy). MOC's abusive language could be heard by all the families sat nearby, and I thought "this bloke's not in control of himself, if he was in control of the team he would be taking notes or thinking, and his coaching hasn't given the players control of this match."

There certainly will be on 12th Feb so we could initiate this option then. The Boy Dave wrote:....... Too many chiefs on the pitch for me who need bringing down a peg or two.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

Re: Cockerill's future
Let's hope so. Nothing would please me more than to have some serious selection dilemma's when the "big boys" return. I just hope the lads that come in can gel quickly, gain some confidence and hopefully the crowd don't get on their back's too hastily. There certainly will be on 12th Feb so we could initiate this option then

IMHO most definitely.
He is playing for his own short term benefit and with no cognisance of the future of the squad.

Re: Cockerill's future
If we win the LV cup do you think that will be his stay of execution?
Would the fans be happy?
