Your England team for the 2012 6 nations

Post by kpj tiger »

With the appointment of the new england caretaking management team i was wondering who the fans would want to see in the starting 22 for england in the 2012 six nations. Mine would be as follows:
1. Corbisiero
2. Hartley
3. Cole
4. Lawes
5. Croft - Captain
6. Robshaw
7. Wood
8. Waldrom
9. Youngs
10. Flood
11. Sharples
12. Farrel or 12trees
13. Tuilagi
14. Wade (I know it would be a risk)
15. Foden

16. Mullan
17. Tom Youngs
18. Parling
19. Tom Johnson
20. Simpson
21. Farrel or 12trees
22. Delon Armitage

I like the idea of playing Croft at lock aswell, I think either is a good option. :smt023

Tom Youngs has had surgery on his back so does not stand a chance. The pack looks good although I would put Croft at 6 as he does not have the build for an international second row. If Parling is fit in January and playing well he would be my choice for the second row.
Agree with the half backs but think 12 is still a problem area. Farrell has not shown that he has the game for 12. I think 12trees may get the nod purely because lancaster has seen how he can play at saxons level and he is having a pretty good season but that may be a bit of tigers bias.
Disagree with the back three as i would have Ashton in there he may be a prat but him and Foden just work well together and then it would be between Wade and Sharples for the final position.

I don't think Croft has sufficient grunt for an international lock. Much better to use him as a flanker where his speed can be made to count.

I like that man Cole, great prop indeed.

How 'bout Haskell at 6 ? I know is a bit of a disappointment at number 8 but for that you've got Waldrom.

Ashton. I am dreaming of the day he'll do his wedge tailed eagle dive in the try zone and eventually drop the ball ! :smt003

I think Haskell will be excluded under the "overseas player" rule and as for Ashton... Well EVERYBODY is waiting for that!

I think Glaws Sharples and Trinder deserve a look, Wasps Wade definitely deserves a bench place - Billy whizz is come again!

If its another fudge and paper over the cracks from the RFU and all about winning the next game as we so often hear and not planning for the future, i think they may go with.

I really, REALLY hope not. This should be building for the Lions and the RWC which we are hosting and it will be embarrassing if we do not win.

Excellent team of rising stars but may lack a bit of pace. Could do with Rory Underwood on the wing.
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

Very promising team, is there such a thing as 'too much flair'?

I think you're missing a trick though by not including Andy Goode and Ayoola Erinle. You've also ignored potentially the greatest English winger of all time, Phil Christophers.
