At the minute I would select
1 Marler
2 Hartley
3 Cole
4 Lawes
5 Attwood
6 Croft (C)
7 Wood
8 Waldrom
9 Youngs
10 Flood
11 Sharples
12 Twelvtrees
13 Tuilagi
14 Ashton
15 Foden
The likes of Henry Trinder, James Gaskell, Joe Simpson, Christian Wade, Jamie George, Henry Launchbury, Jonathan Joseph, Jamie Gibson, Freddie Burns, Kieran Brookes, Graham Kitchener,George Robson, Matt Kvesic all have to be looked at going forward

Re: Your England team for the 2012 6 nations
Given that you have picked two very reliable kickers in Flood and Farrell, it is a bit strange to pick a fullback out of position on the wing just to fit in a third kicking option.tigerseb wrote: 10-Flood

Re: Your England team for the 2012 6 nations
Not an easy choice - I think we need to put some fresh blood in, but also retain the core of the side for some continuity, hence :
Corbs
Hartley
Cole
Lawes
Attwood
Croft
Wood
Haskell/TTTE
Youngs
Flood (c)
Benjamin
Farrell
Manu
splAshton
Foden
Thought about naming Hartley, Croft or Wood as captain, but went instead for the most eloquent contender !
(You could argue for Robshaw as captain if he forced his way into a guaranteed starting spot ahead of Croft or Wood....)
I could see a few more new faces getting into the Elite Squad & so possibles for the bench are :
Gray/Brooker
Brookes/Vunipola
Parling/Robson
Robshaw/Johnson
Young/Simpson
Sharples/Armitage
12Trees/Barritt/Allen
What I really want (regardless of personnel) is for the new coaches to instil some passion and creative rugby back into the side - lets go out & take the game to the oppo with some attacking rugby from backs & forwards....
((Just changing Stevens, Easter, Cueto, Trundle & Hape for Corbs, a sack of potatoes, anyone, Manu & anyone should guarantee that.... ))

Re: Your England team for the 2012 6 nations
I cannot for the life of me see why so many people want Marler in their team! I think the bloke is a liability and a pants scrummager...BBTOD wrote:At the minute I would select

Robshaw has done a good job for Quins at 8.

Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

Re: Your England team for the 2012 6 nations
What do Sky and Rugby World see in Stuart Barnes exactly? His team:
15 Olly Morgan (Brown, Foden and Armitage all better choices)
14 Chris Ashton (if he's not annoyed too many Samoans by the next world cup)
13 Manu Tuilagi (obviously)
12 Owen Farrell (Yes - though Flood at 12 and him at 10 could give Flood better chance at captaincy and we could have a Mike Catt brain outside a Wilkinson-esque boot and calm)
11 Ben Foden ("I know. He's fast, let's put him on the wing." Undervalues the wing and doesn't take into account what he's actually good at)
10 Danny Cipriani (!? You're s******g me! The sort of personality we need after 2011?)
9 Ben Youngs (hard to see past him but hopefully he'll be pushed by others in time for 2015)
1 Joe Marler (Hot head and still to prove himself as a great scrummager. Corbisiero proved he could hold his own at the world cup)
2 Dylan Hartley (Yes)
3 Paul Doran-Jones (We have a young, world class, specialist tight-head scrummager so let's shove in an unproven utility prop)
4 Courtney Lawes (Yes, I suppose!)
5 Geoff Parling (Hard not to include him. If he's got over the worst of his injuries, he'll be one of the best)
6 Tom Croft (Yes, but not captain?)
7 Chris Robshaw (Utility back, who is having a good season but captain? Let him prove his worth in the XV first!)
8 Tom Wood (Yes, probably)
16 Joe Gray (beyond him and Hartley, what are the options for this year?)
17 Dan Cole (see PDJ)
18 Tom Palmer (What's the point of having someone who'll be 36 in 2015 on the bench? Start him or get him out and "build for the future")
19 Jamie Gibson (I'd be inclined to have either Robshaw or Wood here and a proper 7 on the field...who?)
20 Joe Simpson (Yes)
21 Toby Flood (He's got to be on the field, perhaps with 12T here... Who else could cover 10/12?)
22 Jonathan Joseph (Not yet; start with Brown or Foden with Armitage on the bench to cover back three)
15 Olly Morgan (Brown, Foden and Armitage all better choices)
