As i said elsewhere, this is the problem of being a good team. But this is also one of the real benefits of the playoff system, meaning that all a team realistically has to do is get into the top 4. When we have all our players back we will have some catching up to do, but given the squad that shouldnt be too hard, anything we win until then is a bonus.

Only in Rugby Union would they carry on a domestic league and LV Cup competition when you're missing 12 of your first team.
Even Sky's Rugby Club had some sympathy last week pointing out that it's not just the RWC that will keep them away.....we've got the EPS rest periods and 6 Nations to deal with for the rest of the season.

I think Cockers does very well in his interviews as I've not once heard him complain about the situation......be interesting to hear the boards view on it though (if we win nothing).

I'll second the earlier-posted "aaaargh"! Just what we needed on the back of the first win of the season and going into the Sarries match! This pretty much leaves us with just Mafi, Slater, Salvi and Woods fit and able to cover the backrow. Any others springing to mind?

It's a tad annoying for us as Waldrom's not even been added to the official England RWC squad; he's just going out as "temporary cover" for Nick Easter, who has a sore back. So, let alone making it on to the field for England, he probably won't even be added to the 30! (Unless he's to be drafted in as Sheridan's replacement.) Not what we need at this point as Tigers' fans.

Suppose he should have a chat with Austin Healey who flew out as cover in 2003 and then turned round and flew back.

Perhaps we should do a Wasps and claim the pitch is unplayable?

Doubt that'd do us much good as is OUR pitch! knowing the RFU we'd be docked 5 points for not ensuring a suitable playing surface! :smt005

Never mind the ball, get on with the game!!

So we could have 3 Kiwis, an American a South African and a Samoan lining up for England shortly?

Right.... so will that be Mafi/Woods/Salvi again, with Armes as BR cover?

Slater has played No8 for Nottingham, but I don't think he's made a single appearance in the back row for Tigers. I would expect him to be a bit short of back-rower pace.

This is very bizarre news as I had it that no additional players beyond the squad of 30 were allowed "in country" and certainly anybody leaving the 30 man squad is permanently out.

If I remember didn't Craig Hammond play at No 8 for Tigers vSouth Africa? If so he did a mighty fine job there as well. Do you think if Cockers goes cap in hand to his mates at Nottingham and tell him the plight of his team do you think Notts will take pity on him and loan us Craig for the day. :smt010

Pretty please.

IIRC he played at 6 that night. I might be wrong though.

As for TTTE going out to his "homeland", maybe some of the heat will come off NZ's most hated man, Quade Cooper!
