Also could i just check that it is about 15 mins in a taxi between Monza and Milan ?

Paul, have a look here.

There are suburban trains serving Monza from Greco station (lines S8, S9 & S11 - travel time 9 minutes) and Garibaldi station (lines S8 & S11 - travel time 16 minutes). Monza station is approx. a 3km walk from the stadium.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Taxi from Milan to Monza might cost you up to 50 Euros and furthermore, the road connecting Milan and Monza is chockoblock on saturdays.
If you have decided to stay in Milan, use the train; from Monza there will be special services to the stadium.
I don't really know Milan hotels, they are very very expensives.
Also, the same weekend there is the huge Motorcycle Expo which will make hotels even more expensive then normal. I don't want to make you change your mind, but consider carefully whether to stay in Milano. If you stay in Monza or Sesto San Giovanni you can go into Milan town in few minutes by train or Metro at least for half the cost.

Ticket sales going very strong so far, over 3000 tickets sold with more then a month to go. The main covered stand should be sold out very soon.
The uncovered stands behind the posts will be sold afterwards.
There are also "distinti tickets" @40 Euros that include a covered seat and 3 drinks from the bar

rugbymonza.com has been hacked, technicians working on problem ...
I also don't get why someone being 11 minutes away from Monza would watch the game in a Milan pub :smt017

Anyway, there is a rugby pub near the railway station in Milan : http://www.thefriendsmilano.it/

That'll be approximately 30 minutes away from where the game will be played ...
