i noticed that against bath that there were a lot big drinkers in the severn thousand crowd, some way over the top, some very abusive to the stewards some making a noise that do's not go with rugby. this seems to be the annoying thing this season. i ask these fans to take there drinking habits elswhere preferably a long way away.

Re: fans
I was with a civilised set of fans. And since (as always) I was driving restricted my alcohol intake.valerie wrote: i noticed that against bath that there were a lot big drinkers in the severn thousand crowd, some way over the top, some very abusive to the stewards some making a noise that do's not go with rugby. this seems to be the annoying thing this season. i ask these fans to take there drinking habits elswhere preferably a long way away.
However, I understand from the Steward who looks after the car park I use that there was an "incident" involving one fan (who was wearing a Tigers shirt) and that further action is being pursued.
Still keeping the faith!

Re: fans
Regardless of criminal proceedings, assaulting a steward has to result in a lifetime ban from the ground.
I understand the incident was captured on CCTV and followed the individual being asked to put his cigarette out. But that is hearsay.
Nonetheless, I would wish to place on record my admiration, appreciation and support of our stewards.

Re: fans
Those guys were just behind and to the right of me
They were stood on the gangway and I think (although I maybe wrong) that it initially started because the steward told them their language was unacceptable towards the referee.
It started just before half time and was still going on at full time
from what I could hear ( although I was not paying a great deal of attention becuse they weree just boring) it seemed there were 2 or 3 guys fairly drunk who used some abusive language and when told off insted of just saying "sorry guv won't happen again" they got very silly challenging the steward and just kept escalating it.
I think they may be in for a ban it they know who they are.
PS the ref was pretty poor and i have not been unknown to get a little heated towards a poor ref but these guys just took it too far and then made prats of themselves by carrying it on.

Re: fans
I agree too !! There is no need for bad behaviour the club has had a superb reputation for a long time we do not want it spoilt by stupid individuals that have probably had one to many and take it out on the stewards. They do an amazing job - unpaid probably. Lets hope this idiot does get a lifetime ban after all Rugby is known for its lack of fan trouble. When I have been to WR there has been no sign of police in the ground and we dont want it to start !!Hinckley member wrote:Bill W (2) wrote:Regardless of criminal proceedings, assaulting a steward has to result in a lifetime ban from the ground.

Agree completely! A lifetime ban sets an appropriate example.

Mr. Jones was not the first poor ref we have had at WR and will not be the last. That is no excuse for abusing and assaulting a steward.mightymouse wrote: PS the ref was pretty poor and i have not been unknown to get a little heated towards a poor ref but these guys just took it too far and then made prats of themselves by carrying it on.

I am absolutely disgusted to hear about this and would support a lifetime ban from all grounds and hope he gets to serve some time at one of her majesty's holiday camps.
But apart from this - I am becoming more worried about the incident we are now seeing at WR.
The assault in the AL last year when a supporter had his glasses broken and those involved were escorted from the ground.
The morons in the bottom corner of the AL throwing beer at Hammers when he scored in that corner and now this. It is happening far too often for my liking and I suspect that it is linked to the larger ground and the idiots being able to access tickets without having to be members but I stand to be corrected.
What I mean is that when we were a 17000 seater with 13000 members (approx) it was not easy for the hangers on to get tickets for the odd game and the only way to guarantee seeing tigers was to be a member and those around you knew who you were. Now it can be anyone who sits in front of me and I dont know who they are nor how they behave or respond to request to behave. The same must be true for our stewards. They must have a much more difficult time and deserve our full support.
The lady who stewards my entrance know me, says hello and i would suspect know all of us who use that entrance regularly.
On that I rest my case
