So IS Kitchener coming or not?

Post by Smudge »

I ask the question for although it has been widely talked about, nothing has been
officially announced. Why not?
Once again we are getting the "mushroom" treatment by the club.

Yes I know all about negotiations, contracts, medicals etc but this has gone on
far too long to be acceptable to the members.
For heaven's sake, let us know one way or the other?

As far as I am aware, none of the new signings have been announced - Young, Brookes, Kitchener etc. Even Tait has not been announced yet even though he has been with us for months.

I think he will if deacon goes to the world cup. This year our scrum has lacked a bit of bulk in the second row and at 17st 9lb kitchner provides that bulk plus he is very good around the park. He will be a very good signing.

1.At 17 st 9 lb Kitchener is certainly not 'bulky' for a 2nd Row .Think you will find he weighs much less than Slater , Skivs or Mafi ( especially now we've fattened him up a bit)
2.Deacon going to the World Cup - do you really think Johnno will take someone as injury prone ?
3.I think we will have quite a few 2nd Rows looking for game time in September .

Yes, because if he gets injured, he can easily be replaced having someone fly out if required.

Doesn't really matter about this does it - if he doesn't go to the world cup he's going to retire according to his interview back in January: apparently every game is played on pain killers. He said he 'wanted to get through the season and to the RWC ,before he retired'. Unfortunately I've looked but can't find a link to the interview anywhere.

I'm sure, if fit, Johnno will take him as he rates him highly from his playing days.

We have had a combination of mafi and skivington which is light weight due to mafi being 16st 7lb kitchner adds over a stone to the scrum which is a lot.

No way is Mafi 16st 7lb, maybe he was at the start of the season but I would say he is at least a stone heavier now.
