I take the point that you are making regarding "resting" players but disagree entirely with the sentiment and objective of your post. Yes, take the chance to rest players who have had a "busy" season and those who we would say are very important to us, but do it for that reason alone. I would not like to discuss the pros and cons of the season with any Saints supporter to have it thrown back at me that we were scared of meeting them anywhere so we engineered their non participation in the play-offs. A comment which would be hard to defend.

As they say in Manager speak, can we just concentrate on winning the next game. Newcastle on Friday night, never an easy game as previous years have shown

In the after-match chat (ESPN) at Newcastle, Richard Cockerill said he would be fielding a strong side against London Irish. There seems no intent to "throw" the match.
Today is yesterday's tomorrow.
