Travel to Dublin - Ryanair hand-baggage beware

Post by TigerCam »

Had this reminder come around work the other day:

'Ryanair allows only 55x40x20 and max weight is only 10kgs whereas Easyjet max weight is 20kg. The Ryanair size is now smaller than the IATA standard cabin baggage size so one needs to buy a special bag!'

Ryanair will ping you £40 if it is not their size.

Don't be fooled by thinking that just because you have got away with an oversize bag at the check-in that you have beaten the system.

When we went to Cork pre-season by ryanair, the baggage police came onto the plane as it loaded, and gave several people the option of having their slightly oversize bags put into the hold ("Oh, I'm sorry it's already closed madam"), or paying up. No joke.

The check in staff are not Ryan-Air employees.

Those who check you baggage at the gate are - and are motivated to "bounce" your cabin luggage.

The most common trick is to insert you bag into the "template" at an angle - "look it is too big".
Still keeping the faith!
