Tigers Academy v Naas the night before the Leinster match

Post by BJ. »

"It's a big weekend for the club with the Heineken Cup quarter-final and now the Academy players have an opportunity to share in the experience," said Tigers Academy manager Neil McCarthy.

"We're looking forward to going over there, playing somewhere new against opposition from out of our usual programme.

"It would be great if the supporters travelling early for the Heineken Cup could come and support us on the Friday evening."

The Naas ground is approx. 20 miles from Dublin city centre. There is a train service from Dublin Heuston to Sallins & Naas station (journey time approx. 20-30 minutes). This station is approx. 4 miles from the ground. According to the Irish Rail website, the last train back to Dublin leaves at 23.05 and arrives at 23.35.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

It's great to have this match - but couldn't it have been played in Dublin? There will be lots of Tigers fans around the capital that night who would have rolled up to watch. The fans of Naas know their way around the area much better than we do so I'm sure they wouldn't have minded the trip, Donnybrook would have been perfect for this game.

Of course it's never going to be played in Dublin, the opposition is Munster. It's a bit like Leinster Academy looking to play Northampton at Welford Road. It's not going to happen.
The only reason Naas will host the game is because of the Tigers relationship with Naas through Geordan.

This is a Heineken weekend about Leinster and Leicester, nothing to do with Munster. This academy game should take place somewhere in Munster .

Apparently Naas is a two hour drive from Dublin on a Friday afternoon so I will be missing this.

Pleased to report that the Wood Peckers eventually made it to the Tigers Academy game Friday night after many a wrong turn. Lovely club, friendly banter, good to see others managed to find the place and our lads won. :smt038
