Saints in decline?

Post by WiggoTiger »

After another loss in the Premiership, are the Saints very reliant on Ashton, Foden and Hartley to keep them in tight games?

Feel their wheels are wobbling again, and may be come a cropper like last year! :smt038 :smt038 :smt031

This must be a concern.

They have to visit Bath and Exeter and entertain Glaws in the next three weeks.

Three losses and they could miss out on the play offs!

I think they have three very tough games over the 6N period & will drop some more points.

Not sure who out of the chasing pack (after SAffas) could take advantage though ? .....

We have Wasps and Saracens at home and Sale away. If Saints lose a game or two and we beat Wasps and Saracens then we may open up a significant gap. On the other hand if we lose two of our games then it could become very tight at the top.
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

As with last year, there is a question mark over Saints' conditioning and lack of squad rotation.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start to fall away over the next few weeks, although I expect they will still make the playoffs in some comfort.

Bath a quite a way back still Bill, although on a roll.....

I would not be surprised to see the current top 4 still be there at the end of the season....with us top of course :smt023

I expect Saints to be in the top 4. along with us, Sorries and possibly Gloucester or Quins.

JSD was carried off at the weekend with what looked like a serious ankle injury, without him I can see the Glos challenge faltering. Varndell was also carried off but I'm not sure how much he now contributes to the Wasps effort.

Shame, I was looking forward to Tom Varndell coming to Welford Road next week.

Anyone know what injury he has suffered?

I don't see Saints as being in decline. Every team has a loss of form over the season and they are having to now come to terms with the fact that 4 x of their starting 15 are also nailed on in England's starting 15. They have good quality replacements and it's testament to their early season form that they can lose three on the spin and still be top if they win their games in hand.

Sadly the story of JSD's career.
