Alain Rolland
As feared had a terrible game.
Even S. Fitzpatrick declared him inconsistant.
He managed to reduce what should have been a wonderful spectacle to a "OK then we will play it rour way" contest.
I agree with Castro and Crane.
They guyhas missed his vocation. It should be as a salesperson in banking!!

Re: Alain Rolland
Fortunately we overcame the 16th man this time in Wales
Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

Re: Alain Rolland
He was poor, no doubt at all.
I have to say though that Tigers backchat throughout the game was a pretty poor way to handle it. You have to handle a referee better than that.
Apart from that gripe, really good effort by the team, and i agree Allen was outstanding.

I think maybe Deacs did not stand up to Rolland. I can hear Johnno enquiring with eyebrows blazing, and Geordan everso politely "Excuse me Sir, BUT ......................"

Your point is well made.
But he did destroy the game as a spectacle.

Alain Rolland is certainly fluent in French. Maybe Italian too?kingol22 wrote:It wasnt great but maybe castro should moan in italian instead at least that way the ref dont have a clue what hes sayingtig1 wrote: I have to say though that Tigers backchat throughout the game was a pretty poor way to handle it. Re: Alain Rolland
Alain Rolland surely deprived the Tigers of a good try (he should have left an advantage for coming at the side of the ruck, instead he gave a penalty in favour of Scarlets for an obscure reason). I like him in the six Nations cause he speaks French but today he was a bit bizarre.
A great game anyway, compared to Ulster Biarritz that was a complete bore.

Re: Alain Rolland
He was appalling - he seems to ref by his own made up rules. The back chat started right at the end of the 1st half when he he gave Scarlets a scrum put in after the scrum had wheeled on our put in no more than 20 degrees. The rules say it has to wheel through 45 before having set again and giving the put in to the other side.
He was a disgrace and has progressively goy worse - needs to be struck but as a Celt and bi-lingual no doubt there will be another 10 years of him.

Re: Alain Rolland
For me he summed himself up by penalising Tigers for blocking off at the lineout. Fair enough, but we did it every linout after that.
He let Scarlets get away with a lot and he probably did cost us, but we should have not answered back. Our indiscipline cost us at the end of the first half in particular and we lost out composure.
The look on Chuter's face said it all when Castro kept giving the ref lip....It's up to the captain on the field...Deacon..to shut everyone up and he didn't do it very well, but he played well.
