Mafi
A lot of deserved talk of signing Slater on properly, but I think one guy we have to sign up is Sitiveni Mafi. What a cracking second half he had at openside. Great in the lineout too. Add to that to a number of recent impressive performances. I think he would be great as cover for our first choices and hopefully develop into a first choice himself. And he is only 21!
Sign him up Cockers!

Re: Mafi
I mentioned a while back that I thought Mafi could turn in to a top quality openside and now I am convinced. He has all the attributes and is growing game by game. When Croft is back we would have one of the fastest and most mobile backrows around and our line out would be devastating!
Big question would be who would play 8?

Re: Mafi
Great credit must go to the club for their recruitment (again).
The end of last season, on the face of it, was a real time of change for the club as amongst others Moody, Deacon, Ellis, Kay,Vesty, Mauger, Blaze and Davies all moved on.
To replace them Waldrom and Skivington have become terrific players for the club. Mafi is really starting to show his potential. Then we have youngesters who have come through such as Manu and Slater.
I think to have overhauled the squad in such a way and be where we are at the top of the league is really a great effort by the club.

Re: Mafi
Useless these South Sea Islanders. Get rid of Mafi and the Tuilagi's total waste of time.I quote from Tiger in Birmingham in another Mafi thread
"Mafi is good at clearing out once the opposition feels they have secured the ball.
The rest of the time he is too slow to the breakdown and doesn't carry the ball enough going forwards. So far he appears to be a 1 trick pony IMOAs"
I rest my case m'lud

Of course this is my own opinion and other posters may have a different perceived factual viewpoint.

Re: Mafi
Ok Rizzo, you are forcing me to be serious:
1) I was all for giving Mafi time to settle and he is now coming good
2) Murphy, Waldrom, Newby, Smith, stood by them when others wanted them dropped
3) AT supported him all the way as he is a vital part of the team
4) AA vital to the team and deserves to be at 12.
Now that I have bared everything (and not in a sexual way Bill) can I go back to expressing my true feelings?
