Xmas Cards

Post by Bill W (2) »

BJ kindly brought to our attention last year a splendid range of rugby related Xmas Cards that, inter alia, benefit the Matt Hampson Trust.

They, with new ones, are available again this year.

I bought some of these last year. They were excellent and drew a lot of positive comments from some of the recipients. And all for an excellent cause.

Ditto. I'll have a look later, if there are some different designs it'll be good.

There are some new designs. I was so incapable of making my mind up I order mixed packs. Last year I bought only "oh scrum all ye faithfull"

I will order when I get paid. Good to see some new designs, being picky I don't like sending the same design card to people who got it last year. Good cause, and good quality cards too.

Pedant alert!

Although I am no Christian, millions of people are. And they revere a bloke they call Christ.

So personally, I hate the term Xmas and much prefer Christmas.

I wait and tremor and the thought of Bill's withering response!

"X" was, for many years, a normal and uncontroversial abbreviation for Christ. "Xmas" should still be pronounced "Christmas"

Not withering.

Many non-Christians enjoy sharing the festival (which incidentally I believe stems from a pagan one). I respect their views, and just as I use the phrase G*d out of respect for their beliefs and feelings so I use the word Xmas rather than Christmas so as to avoid offence rather than cause it.

I know the Crimbo cards are rugby orientated but what exactly has a debate wheather is "Christmas" or "Xmas" got to do with rugby :smt017 :smt017

Bringing this back on topic - I repeat that these are very good quality cards - unlike some you can buy which are on cheap thin card. I've just sent the link to a friend who received one of the cards from me last year as he said "these are brilliant, not just rugby fans but any sports fans would like them...better than a fat robin sitting on a Christmas pud or whatever!"

And all in a good cause!

And btw some of the cards have the greeting inside "Have a Scrummy Christmas" and others "Have a Ball this Christmas".

And on the back is "Merry Christmas from the Loose Heads"
