Sky v ESPN

I am exploring expanding my coverage of sport with a focus on rugby union but cannot decide between Sky and ESPN. Which company offers the best deal?

ESPN. More premiership games, plus their coverage is excellent.

And, they don't have Stuart Barnes!! :smt040 :smt040 :smt040

On the negative side, you wouldn't get the Rugby Club!!

I have both and find they compliment each other nicely, I don't even mind Barnsey really. The extra cost is worth it in my opinion.

SKY at the moment as has great coverage for the Hein cup (apart from highlights) and decent premiership plus autumn internationals for england.
ESPN still catching up in terms of production.

I agree, my missus has to put up with me watching a hell of a lot of rugby though. Which she doesn't mind as it keeps me from going shopping

Would this mean no more trying to scrounge DVDs? :smt107

People please note that copying and then sharing discs of TV programmes with anyone other than yourself constitutes a breach of copyright law.

Indeed. The vast majority of us on this forum are aware of this. However, there are some individuals who think this does not apply to them.

Right now, if you commit to a year ESPN subscription, you get the first three months free.

My neighbour has Sky and ESPN and has worked out that he will only miss 4 Tigers games this season as all the others are being broadcast on Sky, ESPN or red button.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

There is - of course - a sticky regarding DVDs and recordings of games etc at the top of this forum. It is NOT PERMITTED on this forum. In future any such posts will be removed and the user risks a ban.

I just called Sky and tried the old "Virgin give ESPN for free, how about you...otherwise I might defect to Virgin..." Nothing doing...called my bluff and told me how much more HD Sky offer...now I must justify the extra £9 to the Mrs, who already thinks I watch too much sport (not just rugby)! :smt009 :smt013
