Thanks for this. I was wondering what happened - it looked serious on the day. Why so long for news, I wonder?

BBC report it as both a fracture and a breakDarc Tiger wrote:Just for those who wondered how the Scarlets prop was after being stretchered off. Not great im afraid...

Hopefully it's only a fracture and he'll be out for 6-8 weeks rather than 6-8 months.
Best wishes for a quick recovery

Fracture & break are the same. Type of fracture will determine the length of abscence.Tiger_in_Birmingham wrote:BBC report it as both a fracture and a breakDarc Tiger wrote:Just for those who wondered how the Scarlets prop was after being stretchered off. Not great im afraid...

Re: Scarlets Prop Rhys Thomas suffers fractured leg
Whilst a fracture and a break are not different to medics the common misconception is a break requires displacement - I was assuming BBC reporters (being as inept as they are) followed this misconception.Hull Fan wrote:Fracture & break are the same. Given the leg was not splinted on the field I would assume the break/fracture does not have any major displacement.
When I broke my leg I was given entonox, traction applied and an air cast put on before they even moved me.

BBC and inept you don't hear that in a sentence too often!
Hope your legs better now, very painful injuries.

Rotten news & luck for him, hope he recovers well and fully.
I noticed Castro went over to him when they were lifting him onto the body board, at first I thought he was going to help carry him off.

Probably only just announced because he went to Royal, I've been to Casualty at Royal before. He's either only just been seen or he got lost trying to work out all the coloured lines on the floor!
Get well soon by the way.

Very unfortunate, was he only recently back from injury?
How did it happen?

Re: Scarlets Prop Rhys Thomas suffers fractured leg
The last thing we need, just back from injury and off again, not that he was up to the mark anyway. Nice to see some concern in this forum though, a very fair bunch from what I've seen over the past week. Looking forward to the return game though, your early Xmas present will be over by then, HOPEFULLY.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and return to playing.

Horrible for the bloke. I wish him a speedy recovery.
He got a fine ovation at Welford Road when he was carried off, poor fella.

Today is yesterday's tomorrow.
Re: Scarlets Prop Rhys Thomas suffers fractured leg
A fracture isn't good, but far better than the knee injury I suspected judging from the way he twisted and fell when tackling/colliding with Castro. Good luck to him.
Opportunities always look bigger going than coming.
