Bitter Backie
As a past fan of Neil Back I have always wished him and his team well, but after his after match comments I might be changing my mind.
I would like to know what perceptions he thinks referees have about Leicester and what are the certain things that happen and are allowed to happen?
I also think he should be warned for his comments on referees when he said "referees should ref what they see and not what they think their going to see"
All in all a nasty interview by a man who's team were complete rubish and were beaten by a far superior team,if he can't take the bad times he should get out of the game.
Sorry for this rant but it got my goat.

Re: Bitter Backie
It also made me chuckle when he subtley said about leicester cheating. He's one to talk, he was one of the biggest cheats that played for Leicester. It takes one to know one Mr Back.
It was quite interesting as well when he sort of inferred that there could be a possible split in the Leeds ranks. He said something along the lines of and we have to make sure that there are no splits within the squad.
Think it's a case of sour grapes from a coach who saw his team annihilated, after saying that they were aiming for a HC spot this season.
I think Mr Back has potentially shot himself in the foot with that comment.

Did anyone else notice the chipped front teeth that Backie displayed last night on the ITV4 interview? I don't recall Backie having chipped teeth. His words were sometimes accompanied by an amusing whistle. I wonder if the "splintering" that he referred to has already happened and someone has made their feelings known?

Re: Bitter Backie
As one of the greatest exponents of "playing the ref" during his playing career (with the possible exception of when he floored Slander Esq.), I was saddenned that it was apparently news to N. Back that C. White Esq., is far from strict in the refereeing of scrums. Had Pearson or Barnes been refereeing Leeds would have conceded many more penalties.
Perhaps Mr. Back has been listenning too much to Mr. Venter?

Yes I noticed that. Backie had a full set of straight gnashers as recently as interviews at the start of the prem, a quick google shows. Makes you wonder.WirralExile wrote:Did anyone else notice the chipped front teeth that Backie displayed last night on the ITV4 interview? I don't recall Backie having chipped teeth. Re: Bitter Backie
It did rub me up the wrong way when i heard the interview.
He was maybe a little upset with the poor showing of his team, especially as he had stated he thought we might be "there for the taking" earlier in the week.
Probably a case of an interview to close to the full time whistle.
Hope the chipped tooth wasn't because he had expressed his concerns about the scrum to Cockers, who may not of seen it the same way!

Re: Bitter Backie
It is hard to judge as a tigers fan and especially when the referee was the ever inept C. White, but to say the ref was biased is way off base.
Given that the Leeds scrum was being completely dismantled, I thought White was too lenient by resetting constantly rather than punishing them. Put it this way, if Raymond Pointe had been refereeing that game, he would have given 6-8 more penalties against Leeds and possibly a penalty try.

C. White always refs this way. And Backy should know it.bluntiger wrote:It is hard to judge as a tigers fan and especially when the referee was the ever inept C. White, but to say the ref was biased is way off base.

Re: Bitter Backie
We all know that Chris White doesn't believe in either Yellow cards or penalty tries (and I admit I don't either as I think that they, like bonus points, are gimmicks) but he is very, very consistent as he was on Saturday and you know exactly where you stand with him. I personally ask for no more.Bill W (2) wrote:C. White always refs this way. He is in the 21st Century - and welcome to it!!Daveyboy wrote:Which century are you in, Dicky?DickyP wrote:We all know that Chris White doesn't believe in either Yellow cards or penalty tries (and I admit I don't either as I think that they, like bonus points, are gimmicks)
The century in which balls are always fed into the scrum crookedly, back rows do not have to bind onto the scrum, referees "interpret" the laws of the game so as to "better manage the play".
Chris White has his own idiosyncracies as a ref. But he is largely consistant. He takes the view that the front row should keep the scrum up despite the efforts of the opposition to take it down. That a yellow card should only be awarded for peristant deliberate infingement of the laws. And that a penalty try should only be awarded when but for the infringement a try would have been scored.
Of course N. Back Esq feels this favours teams who cheat.
Still keeping the faith!
