The Mark bar open to the public for Exeter game....
More good news for all of you in the Crumbie that use the ABC bar.
Charles Rayner (Head of stadium operations), Matthew Nicholson (GM, Lindleys) and The Mark Group have agreed to open 'The Mark' bar to the public for the Exeter game. The Mark bar is situated next to the ABC and usually used for Mark Group guests only.
This arrangement will be for the Exeter game only but will be reviewed if or when it becomes available.
This should make a big difference to service running up to KO and at half time so please be kind enough to post back if opening the Mark helped or not.

Excellent news. This should make a huge difference as it will more than double the bar frontage. Thank you Mark group (but why have you been keeping it empty when you had no guests?)

"The Crumbie Lounge" as it was, was initially open to all comers (subject to reservations) and served a buffet style lunch for about £20. Subsequently it was restricted, mainly by price, and the same meal cost £115 (although in fairness this included a match ticket) - which was when I stopped using it!Old Hob wrote:Excellent news. Still keeping the faith!

Will they still be using that :censored: system in the ABC bar that they were trialling at the Leinster game ?
Whereby you queued up, ordered your drink, payed a person and then moved on to someone else to pour your drinks........only the clown you paid, failed to pass on your order details to the drink pourer, who asked you again!
Genius....2 people to do one persons job!!

No Tommo the 'censored' system in place for the Leinster game was deemed not to be a success?
A 'till and server' system will be tried for the Exeter game. e.g. There will be four queues, four till operators and a server attached to each till operator. These will work together.
In addition there will be two 'pourers'. They will only pre-pour beer for the servers to collect from once the order is placed. So as long as they don't get a run on g&t's the service should be improved.
In addition a bar supervisor will be punter side to ensure the queues are orderly and the bar staff have senior support.
Please let me know what you think after the game.

PRE-pour beer only AFTER an order has been placed????
At 5 mins to half time start pouring Tiger and some guinnesses. Keep going until you've got on top of it. KEEP LOOKING AT THE CROWD AND ESTIMATING IT. When second half starts, stop.

No, no Old Hob...
They will be pre-pouring regardless of orders hence the name 'pre-pourers'. They will continue to pre-pour until the supervisor tells them to stop.

OK. It is the use of the word "only" which, though small is very potent and should be used with care and in the correct place.

Yes the pre-pourers will only pour beer for the servers to collect from. I don't know how I can make it any clearer, but try this?
Pre-pourers - 'only' pour beer
Servers - get the pre-poured beer from the pre-pour area once the order has been taken. They will also pour as and when required
Till Operators - will only take your order and your money. They will communicate the order to the server
Simple.... Lets see how it pans out on the day.
