Friendly v Nottingham

Post by Bill Hemsley »

I know that Tigers have traditionally had a fixture against Nottingham at the start of the season and wanted to know from those who have attended in the past whether it is generally well-attended. Because I am working overseas quite a bit (in deepest Nigeria as I type this) I shall miss some early games but I am in the UK on Friday 13th (!), so was thinking of going. Any info, anyone?

It won't sell out so you'll be able to get tickets on the day.

I went last year and sat in front of Jordan Crane who was in the stand with the general supporters. They said there were 2000-odd last year but it felt like more (I thought 4000+ but hey ho).

Friendly atmosphere, good banter. However, they have scheduled it for a Friday evening so won't be able to make it this year.

Expect to see a few of our academy lads playing for Nottingham.

I went last year and it was well worth it. Sat next to some friendly Notts fans and had a long chat about rugby, they tipped a certain Tim Molenaar to be playing GP rugby soon... Good game to watch and a friendly atmosphere it's also a short walk from the train station. If you can go then I would recommend it, me and the missus will be in attendance.

Thanks for the responses, stuck down here in Lagos I feel a bit removed from everything. Flying home on Friday night though via Amsterdam and Humberside so all is not lost. Think I'll try to get over on Friday 13th to Nottingham.
Sadly must fly out again quite soon - further south this time into Saffa-land

We were sat behind Jordan last year. The wife's only memory of the day is that Jordan wears American Eagle pants

Last year Johno, Wells and Round tree were all in attendance. I'm not so sure a Friday evening will suit them, unless they fancy the all you can eat wings from Hooters for their tea before the game.

Has anyone got any ideas on what type of squad Tigers will be taking to Notts on Fri?

Much the same as for Brive, I suspect, but with a possible appearance by the internationals at some stage.

My guess is that the "first" team will only get an outing at Cork or against The Dubliners.

No internationals again this week according to the Merc. Hawkins has a minor leg injury, so expect to see Tom Youngs.

Internationals available for the Munster friendly next week.

I've had a good look at my very reliable crystal balls and they tell me that Tom Youngs will start with Charlie Clare on the bench :butthead:
